I just started taking 100mg of spiro each day 3 days ago. Today I woke up with a bad headache and it just won't quit despite taking 600mg of ibuprofen. Also the headache is making me sick to my stomach and I am also feeling dizzy. Is this common for new users of Spiro? Is this something I should be worried about or is it just because my body isnt used to the drug?

I started Spiro recently as well, and I had some headaches. I'm thinking it might be mild dehydration- I did not up my water intake when I started taking it, and Spiro is a diuretic. Have you been drinking lots of water?

well I think I have. But maybe I haven't been drinking enough. I'll try adding some more and see if that helps. Thanks for the tip!

you shouldn't be taking Ibuprofen or any NSAID with Spiro. It tells you that in the little slip you get with your meds...but here's a link to a good explanation
It might just be your body adjusting, but the girls are right, drink plenty of water....it can't do any harm. If you need to take a painkiller, stick to Paracetamol or another non-NSAID.

my doc takes it really seriously. your doc should have told you about it too, when you first got them.
when I put my back out again last year, I knew that muscle relaxants and codeine would definitely help, but when the acute pain wore down, I needed something to help on a day to day basis - and before I was on Spiro, I got 800 ibuprofen 3 times a day...but that was cut out and my doc refused to let me back on it. I practically begged her but she held out. And my back still hurts regularly, because I need an anti-inflammatory....but I cant have them! grrrrr
sometimes you can't always get what you want!

What are your side effect severity levels to taking spiro??
I'm thinking about beginning to take Spiro even though I'm trying to do everything naturally. I just can't stand all of the effects of having PCOS, and they seem to be getting worse. I mentioned Spiro to my doctor because I heard that it was good for reducing body hair. She said she could prescribe it for me but after doing some research I'm really worried about the side effects of this drug. What are your worst side effects? Are the headaches really bad? Do they get worse? Do you also experience sleepyness?
Does anybody know any other alternatives (prescription or homeopathic) that would alleviate primarily the body hair aspect of PCOS?
