Default is this a spiro thing?

i took 50mg at lunch and then went and did 30 minutes of interval training and a 30 minute strength workout. both of these are totally normal for me, so probably not due to the exercise. about 10 minutes after i finish my workout and as i'm walking the 5 minutes back to my flat i start feeling like i have super low blood sugar. by the time i got home i was dizzy, my eyesight was fuzzy and my stomach was doing weird flipflops. so i've been in bed and have eaten a bowl of cherries and some cashews, hoping it was low blood sugar but i didn't get the immediate bounce back i get when that happens and i eat something. i'm feeling loads better now although still a bit off, was just wondering if it was a weird spiro side effect as that's the only new thing in my life.

has anyone else had this happen? i don't want to give up my spiro hope i'm not allergic.

Hi,

I have been on a 100mg dose of Spiro for about 5 months. I was getting extremely fatigued and having dizzy spells- this is because sprio is also used for lowering blood pressure. A quick fix for this is to increase your intake of sodium. If I start to feel a dizzy spell coming on I will eat a pickle or something with alot of salt (pretzels, soup) and I feel better immediately. Hope this might help you.

oh wow, that was -exactly- what i needed! i've cut out all processed foods and worked out that my salt intake is hovering at about 1.5g a day, give or take - no wonder i'm dealing with low blood pressure. naturally the low blood sugar snack did nothing to help me as the cashews were unsalted, d'oh. it happened again yesterday but i'd bought v8 just in case and i loaded that sucker up with celery salt for a bit of extra sodium which worked a charm.

thanks

Katie, please make sure you are taking in enough water. I'm on spiro. and have had times when I forget to drink, and then wonder why I'm getting drowsy or feel funny, for lack of better phrase. It's hard, the spiro makes me pee a lot but you have to keep your head straight with enough water.

I get these dizzy spells a lot. Even before the Spiro I got them. I know it's mainly when I don't eat breakfast (Bad habit, I know) and around lunch when I get busy with work I get lightheaded and shaky. Sunflower seeds are my trick. But if I forget to eat anything and then eat a meal I get super tired. My mom, who doesn't have PCOS but has thyroid problems, always said it was her blood sugar dropping and would grab a hamburger from McDonalds.

thanks for the concern, guys. it's appreciated .

after having had my dose upped quite drastically i've been really vigilant about getting enough salt in. i now carry around a little container of salt with me just in case i have another episode. i think it's probably the best option - i can just see myself feeling dizzy and heading straight for the nearest fish and chip shop for my salt fix. naughty!
