Spiro without BCP? Hi there,
So I was originally diagnosed with PCOS even though I did not "classically fit the mold." Then I switched endos and he became suspicious of my diagnosis. He suggested I may have Adrenal Hyperplasia. Well after a battery of tests, he says that my blood tests do not make me conclusively either one - but perhaps "borderline" for one or the other. He felt that since my results were inconsluvie, perhaps I should not seek any means of treatment until I want to get pregnant. However, I still feel very uncomfortable about my hair growth issues, so he said I could try a low dose (25 mg) of spiro twice a day. Since my hormones aren't too off the charts, he thought maybe this would be enough to curb the hair.
I have a few questions though - does anyone use spiro without bcp's? I know the risks, but I am not trying to gert pregnant, so he said if I practice safe sex, the only risk is that it may mess up my periods, but since the dose is so low he thought maybe it wouldn't.
Also, the reason I did not want to go on bcp's again was b/c both times I was on it, I got bad pap test results. I don't know if it's just a coincidence, but I'd rather not risk it. Would the spiro be just as much of a risk? You guys may not know, but I figure any input would be so appreciated!
Thanks,
Lisa
