Default Spiro and Yasmin?!?!? Bad combination?

My doc recently started me on Aladactone and Yasmin. I am fully aware that they are potassium sparing drugs. I, however am very nervous taking these drugs because of the possium sparing effects. I avoid eating foods with any level of potassium in them. Are there any ladies taking this combo and if so have you had any trouble? Any input is welcome! I am really scared it will kill me! He chose Yasmin because it seems to be the only BCP that I can tolerate, Mircette makes me an evil she-dragon and gives me terrible cramps. Is there maybe another low-dose pill like yasmin with out the potassium sparing effect? What are your experiances? Thank You!

Default Yikes!

On the prescribing info for Yasmin (I read it in a magazine) it says not to take spiro with it...why would he prescribe them both. I'd get a second opinion...

Default

I have been taking spiro and yasmin for over a year now. I havent had any negative side effects from the combo. I eat regularly, and I love bananas, which have lots of potassium, but never had any problems. The only problem I seem to have, which I have learned to live with, is I pee an awful lot, but I just make sure I drink plenty of water.

Default I'm on both

I've been on both for 2 years now with no problems. Yes, they are both potassium sparing, but the amount of drospironone in Yasmin is apparently equivalent to 25 mg of Spironolactone, so not very much. Just make sure you get your potassium levels checked regularly and you should be fine.

Hope this helps!
