Cool Spirolactone is my new best friend!!!!!

Well gals I had to post and let ya'll know all about my new friend. In late October I started on 100mgs of Spiro twice a day, as well as the BCP Sprintec 28. At the time I began the meds I was shaving twice a day b/c my 5 o'clock shadow was horrible and I was convinced I needed to join the circus as the bearded lady. Here I am a little more than 2 months later and I can tell you that I haven't shaved in a week!!!! I have plucked some stray black hairs but mostly you can't tell at all that i have facial hair. You can still feel a few hairs, but they aren't black and stubbly anymore. i am also using a hair inhibiter lotion daily from Suave.

If you are considering Spiro, I definately say DO IT!!!!!!!!!

My RE said it could take up to 6 months before we saw an improvement, so if that is the case I am hoping to be facial hair free in 4 months!!!! If not I am happy with the results that I have now.

SPIROLACTONE ROCKS!!!! :p

I am happy for you, I hope you continue to see good results.

Congratulations!

I went off Spiro Dec 28 after 5 weeks...i was so dehydrated no matter how much i drank and after FINALLY getting my periods back regularly every 32 days, I quit having periods on it. I didn't see any change in my hair growth either...still have to shave daily. So I have been really frustrated by the drug. Did it affect your periods at all?

That's what I get for being greedy and losing 20 pounds, getting my periods back AND trying to eliminate facial hair, I guess. My luck ran out!

That is really great that you are having such good results and so quickly too. I was on it for a year and a half and I think it actually made mine worse!I told my gyno that it wasn't helping and he took me off it.

I've been on it for about 6 months now. I was also told to wait 6 months for results, but I could see a MAJOR difference in about 45 days. I no longer have whispy black chest hairs (which was what I hated more than anything else). I still have a goatee, but it's gone blonde and doesn't come in as fast. All the other weird body hair is gone.

Yippee!

Congrats on your hair improvement, Wyndee!
I've been on spiro for 3 months and I've noticed that my facial hair is growing back slower . However, the dehydration is no fun, as well as these new odd menstrual cycles. I hope I'm not gettin rid of one problem and causing another . I will see what happens after 6 months, though.

I've been taking 100 mg of spiro for about a month now. I haven't seen any improvement in the facial hair at all. I have noticed though that the shedding of hair on my head has decreased somewhat but there is no new growth at all. I'm also taking flax oil, ground flax seed and saw palmetto so that could be why the shedding has decreased.

I read over the side effects of spiro and breast soreness and
breathrough bleeding were listed.

For me, since starting the spiro I've had to hold my arms across my chest when I go up and down stairs so my breasts don't move because they are so sore. And they sometimes seem a little bigger, almost like they're swollen.

I'm on bcp (desogen) which is helping to regulate my periods, but I think the spiro is what is causing all the breakthrough bleeding. It seems like there's a little bit of blood every few days. Sometimes is like having mini-periods in between my regular ones.

I have been feeling not well lately . . . completely exhausted all the time and dizzy. I wonder if it's because I'm dehydrated. I really haven't upped my intake of water.

What do you all think?

I went through some tenderness, but since I started on the spiro and Yasmin at the same time I'm not sure which to blame for it.

I've been lucky and never had any hair loss issues, but i'm only on 100mg a day also and as I said in my other post, it's eliminated all the freaky hair growth in strange places.

As far as breakthrough bleeding, I've never experienced any at all. I've been on the two meds for about 10 months (I finally counted backwards...big diff from the 6 I thought it had been). I'm having the exact opposite reaction. In the beginning, 8-9 day AF, now...2 days if I'm lucky.

Very strange how everyone is different, isn't it?

I have a couple of questions:

#1 When I read postings, I see a list of things under the persons screen name like for example:
clomid 500+
metformin +
Would someone tell me what all of that means. I know what clomid is and metformin but what about the other things.

I have facial hair (above lip and under chin) I shave it though. I didnt even know there was medicine that helped that????

#2 I dont think that my hair sheds a lot but I do have hair on the top that is thinning. I have a lot of hair though, so people cant tell unless they really dig for it. I dont know if this has something to do with the fact that I am African American or what and that our hair is thicker..... Any ideas? If my hair is not falling out now, does that mean that it wont or can it still?
