Default Spironolactone

Has anyone had any experience with this med? I was just started on it for high testosterone becuase I can't use BCP. I am a little worried about side effects.

I have used it for 3 years and I have no probloms with it. And all my systems are better and aside from bcp it is the only thing I take for my PCOS.

I've been on Spiro for a year. It's definitely helping me w/ my hair loss on my head. Don't think it's helping much for the facial hair. As for BCP the dr prescribed them together for me and the spiro messed up my periods so I was having them every 2 weeks (I got my spiro before I actually got the bcp so I started that sooner) and found I needed the bcp.

I have been on sprinolactone for a little over a year and the side effects for me were very mild. The usual, frequency of uniration at first but i guess my body adjusted and it does not bother me at all. However, you cannot get pregnant while on it as it can cause severe birth defects in male children. I would advise to take it way before 6 pm so that it will not effect you during the night. If you are concerned with the stomach upset, take it with a meal. I take mine with lunch and have not had a problem. hope this helps

hi

ive been on spiro five half years, made my periods irregular at first, but then settled down to my normal. My endo says that it takes 9-12 months to get to maximum result.

Thanks for the replies. I had read that it causes tumors in lab animals which is a little scary. Also, the BCP was working fine for me but took away my libido. They put me on spiro to help with the hair loss and oily skin because the BCP was helping with that. Now I have to worry about an accidental pregnancy and the problems the spiro could cause because if I take the pill then my marriage suffers because I have no libido.

I thought I had no probloms from it but when went to see doc, found out my over active bladder that I have taking a neither pill for is all do to the sprinolactone. So yeah seems to be a common problom with the pill.

I loved spiro but it made me bleed all the time and never straightened out even with NPC. I had a copper IUD (LOVED IT) so no deformed babies. I hate synthetic bcp. Bleeding I put up with b/c I lost half my size & my skin was great; hair quit shedding but did not regrow any. I was on 100 mg and took it at night to avoid daytime dizziness.

Eventually I tried to add met & spiro quit working forever even after quit met, but that's another story.
