I think spironolactone is typically used for high blood pressure .My doctor was like "If metformin is working, then we wont change your medication." How do you tell if its working or not?! I just feel really confused. |

Met treats insulin resistance and other pcos symptoms. Together, they would treat pcos well, but cancelling met for spiro would probably not work, IMO. |

It is a diuretic and was used to treat blood pressure years ago, but it really is not used for that much anymore. Met is used to encourage the smooth muscles to use glucose like they should, so that the pancreas does not have to pump so much insulin. They really do treat two totally different things. |

Have you tried this drug? If so, does the hair fall out? I have excess hair and my doctor said that this drug (along with metformin) would make me lose my excess hair. Is this true? Otherwise, do I just need to get on it and then go for electrolysis? Please help
Thanks!

-S | I have been taking Spiro since diagnosed in Jan. of 2007. It does not make your hair fall out. Spiro reduces excess hair growth. You will still need to do something to get rid of your existing hair, but after the spiro takes effect you will need to do it less. After taking spiro, I have noticed I even shave my legs less than I did before.
