Default Spironolactone doseages?

Hello everyone. I have been lurking for ages here. About 15 years ago I was diagnoised with androgen hyper secretion syndrome, with my ovaries and adrenal glands secreting testosterone. I don't know if this was before anyone really called such a thing PCOS or if this is something else and unfortunately my endo died about 7 years ago. I have been without meds and pretty much free of most symptoms until recently when my blood pressure shot up. I have been about 120/80 for about 14 years until this last year. The high blood pressure that was not contoled by normal meds is what sent me to an endocrinologist in the first place. I did convience my internist to put me on Spironolactone but he will not let me take more than 100 mg a day because he feels this is a normal doseage and now has added felodapine for hypertension without much success. I know I went through this same problem 15 years ago where I was on strong hypertensive meds without success. I keep telling him I was on 325 mg of Spironolactone a day but it just freaks him out. Can anyone tell me of something I could possibly print off showing doseages of Spironolactone to control testosterone? What does anyone take here? I unfortunately do not have insurance so every test is out of pocket but was wondering which testosterone blood tests I should request from him. I do remember that free testosterone is not a good indicator. Actually I almost hate to control it because I started going to the gym to try to control my weight about 2 months ago and have lost 45 lbs in the last 3 months and gained muscle at an amazing rate.....shows me there is way too much testosterone. I actually had to explain my medical situation to my trainer because I think she thought I was taking steroids since I went from lifting 30 lbs to 90 in such a short time.

Any help would be appreciated. I love my doctor he is highly repected in my city and we lack GOOD endocrinologists in Springfield since Dr. Sweet died.

Thanks for the info Eva.

I just feel like my doctor, who I adore, wants to treat the symptoms and not the underlying problem. Besides that the Felodipine is giving me a raging headache, makes me retain water and swells my ankles and makes me flushed, I have Roseaca so that is the last thing I need. I think I simply must talk to him about switching to something else if he intends to treat just the hypertension.
