Default Spironolactone and ketosis?

HI.

i I wanted to let everyone know that I have been struggling with my weight for ages and I have managed to loose 2 stones on the cambridge diet which is similar to the Atkins.

So as with the atkins your body will go into a state of Ketosis and hence fat burning and you loose weight.

I just been put on spironlactone and was wondering if anyother person on the cambridge diet takes this drug too. I have high blood pressure which is why my doctor wants me to go on it.

Does anyone else use it?

Hi there,

I have been on and off low carbing ( atkins) for years. So I am familiar with ketosis. I am also on spiro and have been since February. However I have not been low carbing - but need to get back on it ASAP.

Im not sure what your questions was, were you worried about ketosis effecting the spiro or vice versa? The only issues associated with spiro that I am familiar with have to do with potassium. It can cause too much potassium to build up in some people since its a potassium sparing diuretic. However this wouldn't have anything to do with ketosis as ketosis is just from burning off fat.

Spiro is also an androgen blocker so that may help with your PCOS symtpoms if you have them. Anyway I am not a doctor lol nor do I play one on TV so you should probably ask yours if you have any questions about spiro and low carbing.
