Default Splotchy Face After Treatment

Okay, so I finally took the big step and got laser hair removal done on my face last Thursday. After reading and receiving information on how my skin would (should) look after the treatment, I was not overly concerned. Now, however, my face is splotchy looking. That is to say that my chin looks like I've had a bad case of acne and it appears as if I have a bunch of ingrown hairs, although I am not certain that it is the case. Anyone else have similar issues and know any remedies? I have just been wearing a lot of makeup so that I can go to work without being embarrassed. I know that it takes a while for the hair to shed but I honestly do not know how I can make it that long. Help?!

Thanks!
bekka

The same thing happened to me. Instead of seeming like it was shedding, it seemed ingrown and impossible to remove. Hang in there. After a week or so, it usually started falling out.

This is pretty normal. Also, if there is edema or swelling around the base of the hair, that's a good sign. It can look fairly 'obvious' for a few days, but typically by day 5 the edema is gone, and the hair starts to work its way out in the shedding process.

I've noticed that it takes about a week and the shedding starts with a vengance. By day 10 its nearly out and then by three weeks it's gone till regrowth starts a few months later.

Hope that helps.

Mine does the same thing. Make sure you are using a good moisturizer on it 2 times a day and using a gentle cleanser to remove your makeup.

My face usually stays blotchy looking for about 3 days, then it clears up. I usually start to pluck the hairs after about a week. It is so weird because they just come right out, you don't even feel it. I have been having treatments twice yearly for about 8 years.
