Default spots/cysts on privates!

Lately I have started to get little spots, well they are more like cysts on the lips of my vagina, They are very painfull and feeling like little lumps under the skin. they don't have a head on them.

Does anyone else get these?

From the past discussion on the board many of us get them. Including me. Mine are more on the thighs. Anyway it is called Hidrandenitis Suppurativa. If you do a search on yahoo and then click on images you will be able to see example. Yet another PCOS symptom.

Yes, they can be hidradenities sup, OR they can be simple, blocked sebaceous cysts, otherwise known as zits. Yes, you can get zits THERE. And this is true of non-pcosers, as well. Just another way we are like anybody else out there.

If they get really bothersome or painful, you need to ask the doc what you are dealing with.

Bumps? Oh yeah we've got bumps... see my user name!

I plead of you, beg of you to see your doctor. A dermatologist might be best, but just go with whatever one you are comfortable with. It could very well be Hidradenitis Suppurativa, and if it is this is a disease you want to treat aggressively and early. And it is considered rare, when just by looking at this board one can see that this probably isn't true, it is just underdiagnosed. The more of us that are diagnosed the more likely some actual research will be done on this crippling disease. I'm not being overly dramatic by calling it "crippling", it really can be. I am on Social Security Disability because of it and must take large doses of morphine and oxycodone daily just to walk. Don't end up like me! This disease can literally eat you alive.

Another reason to go to the doctor is, as StarMaiden said, it could be something else entirely. A Bartholian's Cyst for example. It could be infected. No need to sit around in pain!

I know it's no fun to go in and show these kinds of things to a doctor... beelieeeve me I know! I've only had one doctor say anything nasty in my 20 years of showing them off, and she was just a nasty doctor to begin with. The rest have been very sympathetic and caring; one even cried! Please see your doctor.

Big ((((hugs))))) to you! I hope they clear up for you soon. I know how painful those suckers can be

Could also be a symptom of diabetes, a friend of mine used to regularly get nasty spots down there, and not long after she was diagnosed with diabetes. Another person I worked with who was diabetic also had problems down there before she was diagnosed.

I'm glad to hear they are going down Leocat!

As Soulfulqween asked, are they related to your cycle? When mine were still at the "come and go" stage they most definitely happened during the last half, between ovulation and AF. Usually the week before AF. Mine still do get worse during that time.

And ask your doctor about them when you see her/him. Please. As Squidge mentioned, it can even be a sign of Diabetes. Please take care of you. You're the only one ya got!

And for the lumpy bumpy gals out there... one thing that has been helping me of late is the Monistat brand "Soothing Care" powder. I didn't want to say anything yet when I first spoke to you Leocat, as I had just started using it and I wasn't sure yet. I found out about it here on one or another of the 'boil' threads and it does work very well at drying those things up and soothing the surrounding skin. Plus it's an amazing textured body powder! Its texture would be great for girls who tend to chafe, as it makes things very smooooth.

All it contains is (working from memory here!) cornstarch, zinc, and mineral oil. It's talc free, so it's safe for intimate areas, and it has absolutely no scent. Be careful though if you're sensitive to having yeasty-beastie issues... cornstarch tends to exacerbate that.

I hope they continue to get better for you Leocat! ((((hugs))))

Hi Qween

Awww, thanks! ((((hugs)))) So few people really understand what having this disease is like, only the sufferers really understand what we all go through with this curse. Well, and perhaps our mates.

It's that "boiling frog" thing that gets ya Qween. I started out only getting them once every few months or so. Then they started getting bigger, but still only every few months. Then they started coming every month... until my whole body from knees to armpits is covered in it and its sinus tracts. I was busy working and having a life, I didn't have time to worry about those bumps! They run in my family and most people tend to "grow out of them", well I sure didn't! So that's why I'm so adamant about people getting treatment while it's still in the early stages and treatable.

I can't bear to think of another soul suffering from this disease. When I first came to this board and read all the "boil" threads I thought I'd never stop crying!

I'm so sorry you suffer from this dread disease, too ((((hugs))))! Do you bug your doctors about it? No one, no one should have to suffer every month from these things. If they can't treat them, they should at least be able to treat your pain so you don't suffer while you have one! This is 2005 and we don't even leave our pets to suffer, why should we? Sometimes getting them shot full of cortizone will make them go down, but sometimes you just need a good painkiller to keep ya from screamin'! I figure it's the least they owe us for not researching this disease and helping us. Sometimes just a switch in BCP helps. Whatever you do, don't do what I did and just settle in and assume it's your lot in life... you deserve more than that!

Dana

Oh PS... I love your quotes in your sig!

I know someone who has had problems with these. At first she took some medication to deal with them but she kept on getting them a few times a year.

TMI ALERT:

After years of getting them all the time her doctor decided to remove a small part of her labia since they were getting so severe. I've never heard of anyone else having this done but the good news is that she has never had a problem with them again.

I would go see the doctor to get it checked out.
