Soemtimmes becasue the lining gets thick from irregular on non-exsitant cycles and you can get spotting. Also, in the middle of a cycle it can be a sign of ovulation but, I doubt if you have been spotting for so long, it is that.
There are instances where it can be something else, as well. I would definitely talk to your doc if it is not resolving itself to make sure it isn't something like an infection.
