Default spotting after D&C

Today marks my 4th week after my D&C and I'm still spotting. Sometimes it's watery pink and other times it's bright red (sorry if tmi). I usually go through 3 pantyliners a day so it's not heavy.

I called my OB and the nurse said to call back in 2 weeks. The crazy thing is that I never get AF w/o Provera and now I won't stop bleeding.

I just want it to end so I can move on. If anyone had this problem - how did your doctor handle it?

Thanks,
Holly

After my D&C I spotted for like 3 months. It was horrible... I was also pg w/ quads though so my dr expected that I would. It would go from 1 day of nothing to the next of heavy spotting, to the next of barely spotting. Some women it does take a while for the spotting to stop. The key is, are they checking your betas to make sure they're going down? As soon as your beta hits 0-5 then you should stop spotting. My dr was right about that b/c as soon as my beta hit below 5, I stopped all spotting. I'm the same way that I don't get AF unless I take provera so it was a huge shock that I spotted so much especially after having a D&C.

Traci - thanks for responding and I'm sorry to hear about your loss. My OB isn't monitoring my HcG levels, but they were pretty high before I had my D&C. At my 2 wk follow up appt - he gave me a Rx for Clomid and said "call me when you get pregnant again" or I'll see you in 8 months for your yearly Pap.

So I'm a little lost about "what is normal"

Your beta levels need to be monitored to make sure they go down to 0. I would definately get a new dr. It seems like he's not concerned about anything... There have been known complications w/ D&C's. My dr thought I might need another one b/c my betas weren't dropping properly & when the tissue was analyzed there wasn't very much "pg tissue". You definately need a second opinion.

Good Luck!

I'm feeling pretty brushed aside right now - I think I might look into yet another OB. It's so frustrating.

Thanks again

If you're going to stay w/ your OB or get a new one I would get in ASAP for more b/w to check hCG levels. If you see another OB, tell them that you had a D&C & need to be monitored while your hCG goes down. That's the protocal w/ a D&C. Tell the new OB that you got rid of your old OB b/c they didn't do that & just gave you Clomid to TTC again & sent you on your way.

Good Luck!
