Hi girls! I was on Yasmin for 3 months, but stopped because I started spotting every day on them. Now, I've been on Necon 1/35 (generic for Ortho 7/7/7) for 2 and 1/2 weeks and have spotted every friggin day!! I took Necon for 10 years before and never had a problem. This is so frustrating. Started out with brown spotting, now have pale pink watery spotting and sometimes bright red blood (rarely). My doctor said it may take 2 months to get into my system. UGH!!! Anyone else have this problem?

Back about 10 years ago before the doctors finally got a clue about my PCOS, I was on just about every kind of low dose bcp there was. I spotted almost constantly. Finally, I had to be put a higher dose just to get the long periods and spotting to stop. Sure enough a few years later, a doctor put me back on the lower dosages and I had trouble again. However, after I was finally diagnosed with PCOS, I was put on Yasmin and have had no such trouble.
Hang in there. I know what you're going through is no picnic!
Necon 35 if not the generic for 7/7/7. They may have substituted it though. Necon 35 is not triphasic and contains less progestin than 7/7/7. This is a major difference. Yasmin is highly strong in progestin. You just went from a pill that is high in progestin to one that is low. Also the estrogen content may be too strong initially for the lower progestin after the switch. Who told you this was the generic? 7/7/7 has rising levels of progestin throughout the month while necon is fairly high in estrogen effect and low in progestin.
If it is the switch, things should settle down once your body adjusts to the lower level of progestin otherwise you may need to balance the progestin to the estrogen and 7/7/7 may do that as well as other pills.
Hope this helps!
Chris

Thank you so much!! Actually it was my gyno's nurse that said "we'll try you on the 7/7/7's, but do you want the generic that's cheaper." --And I, of course, went for the cheaper one. Since it's not triphasic I should be able to run two pill packs together and not get screwed up, huh. Crap, I've spotted for 3 weeks and now it's time for the placebo's. Who wants a period after spotting for 3 weeks?!?! And, I'm going to Chicago in a few days with a new boyfriend too! Any thoughts? Thank you again Chrissy!!!!
