Default St. Johns Wort and depression

I got laid off from a job I loved 2 weeks ago and have been severely depressed. I have trouble getting out of bed, sleeping, I eat all the time, I don't want to do anything, not even sex. Has anyone here tried St. John's Wort for depression and if so, did it help at all?

Default My experience

I have used it several times for depression and anxiety and I had posted a thread here within the last few days about my depression and I started on it again and it is helping me, seems to keep me keep me clear and focused and gives me a boost to actually be able to have a life and be able to work, in the last 5 yrs I have used it multiple times when my depression kicks in. It really helped me 2yrs ago when I went into a really deep depression with panic attacks along with a lot of prayer.

Just FYI, St. John's Wort has a similar effect on the body as many seretonin influencing drugs, and so it can interact with other drugs, including BCP.

do a search and read up on St. John's wort on this forum. I went totally "manic" when I tired it. It's a drug...

I tried it for a few weeks when I was fifteen, I did not like the results at all. It was almost like getting high, I would become all chatty and goofy, and would crash really really hard..resulting in crying and anger.

But i have heard that it works great for others.
