Hi Ladies!

I've seen a few posts about doctors in the St. Louis area but I would like to get some more advice on doctor's in STL

I'm trying to find a good doctor in the St. Louis area, so far I have had nothing but bad experiences with regular endo's. I've been thinking about looking into a reproductive endo but I am not looking to conceive anytime soon.

I want to have children but right now my body is so unhealthy and I want to get myself better so that I can be a better mom when the time comes. My husband and I are young (26 and 24) and waiting a year or two before trying to get pregnant is something that we are both committed to.

Has anyone had a similar experience, did you go to an RE before you were ready to conceive? Did you go to a regular Endo and then an RE? Can anyone recommend a Endo. Gyno, or RE in the St. Louis area? I'm so sick of going to doctors that don't have a clue.

Thanks!

I've been seeing Dr. Valerie Ratts at BJC/Wash U for almost 10 years now. She has done a lot of research on PCOS and it one of her specialties. I am just now starting TTC but she has always given me straight answers to my questions.

You are going to be better seeing a RE vs. a straight endocrinologist IMO just because they have more experience dealing with things like infertility vs. diabetes, etc. I switched to a endocrinologist for a while because I didn't want to make the drive downtown but most of the patients at the endo office were elderly vs. young couples at the RE.

My OB actually told me that PCOS was not something she felt comfortable dealing with and that I needed to see a RE.

Thanks for the advice, I went to a general OBGYN today and finally got so good answers to my questions. She refered me to a better endo but if that doesn't work out I will try Dr. Ratts. I am switching to better insurance in the new year and she seems to be in my plan.

I also want to say if anyone else is reading this to avoid Dr. Anita Sandu and Dr. Irini Veronkis both were not at all knowledgeable about PCOS from my experience.

clrn...I see a doctor in that same office and I am so frustrated with them. Why do they not have a human answering the phone? You have to leave a message and then they call you back hours later. With my schedule, I call when I have available time...and when they call me back I am unreachable...so they leave things on my answering machine and then I have a billion questions. And when I call to ask questions, they act totally put-out. Does this happen to you? Also, I have only seen my doctor 2-3 times since we've been trying...which is over a year. I love my doctor there, but I'm not sure it is worth the frustration. Do you have the same issues, or is it just me?
