Question started Vitex... need bbt help

Hi! I am mostly a lurker... but I have some questions about taking Vitex. First off, here is my chart

http://www.FertilityFriend.com/home/17bb2

I am currently sitting at CD 58 with no O. I take 1500mg of Glucophage XR a day and 400mg of Vitex morning and night... Here are the questions.

1. Does Vitex make your temperature go down before O? Before my average temps were around 97.4, now they are averaging 97.1-2.

2. Does Vitex make you O or just get af?

3. If I were to start progesterone cream, should I start it now to get af or should I wait around until after I O (If I ever do)?

This is the first af that I didn't get since I was diagnosed in 1993 but was on the pill a good portion of that time. After I got off the pill in November it has been getting longer and longer... but she is nowhere in sight. Please help if you can.

Thanks

Hi, welcome to Soulcysters. I have no idea about the temps, does it make it lower or not, but many of us have noticed that our post-ov temps are higher with Vitex, which shows that the progesterone level is also higher. When I started to take Vitex, it made me o first time in my life and it was CD 60 pluss some days. Vitex can both make the AF arrive and make you ovulate. It is so late in your cycle, so if I would be you I would also start with progesterone cream.

Good luck!

My understanding about Vitex is that is regulates and stabilizes the hormones in the cycle. So whatever "stage" your body and hormones are in - it will enhance them and allow them to take the natural course.

I pre-o temps went down, but then they rose very high.

I don't use progesterone cream - it has never worked on me. But - with the vitex, I am not sure that you would need it.

Just my two cents . .

Best of luck

Christi

Default Congrats on the O!

Amy, congratulations on your O!!! How long have you been taking Vitex?

I started at the beginning of my current cycle, and seem to have Oed around CD21 (the earliest ever for me!). I too have noticed that my pre-O temps are a bit lower...but they are definitely more stable (my old charts looked like I had a week O or attempted to O one or two times before I actually did). My temps, however, have not gone as high as they did before (but that may just be because its now cooler in the house).

Good luck!
