starting actos today- any advice/problems?

hi everyone - im newly diagnosed and today i will start taking metformin and actos. ive seen a lot on the side effects of met but i was wondering how things have been for those of you on actos. my doc said actos could make me ovulate. any success stories? (or horror stories?) thanks!

Hi! I just wanted to say that I tried everything for over 6 months and did not ovulate. I would get my period for weeks on end and then nothing for another 6 weeks. I went to my OB and he suggested a D&C which seemed strange to me, so I went to an Infertility Specialist. He put me on Clomid. I was on a high dose for 3 months and nothing. I asked him to test for PCOS and he performed a slew of blood tests. Indeed, my testosterone leves were elevated and he put me on Actos 30 mg once a day. Within one month I was pregnant -- with twins! I carried them to 34 weeks and they are now 8 months old and perfect! My doctor said he much preferred Actos to Metformin because it caused little to no side effects. After I had the twins I lost about 40 pounds and have been ovulating regularly ever since without any meds!

congratulations! that is such a wonderful story- I am so happy for you! Twins - you are so lucky! your story gives me much hope - thanks for sharing! i started the metformin & the actos last night so we'll see how it goes from here.

my actos experience-
started it Oct 11th- on the 29th of October bleed-
19 days later- bled again- (very little- 2 days- just af)
so that was what- November 16-17th or so- then 19 days
later again- af- on the december 6th- but then on december 24th another bleed- and then 4 days into my boobs hurt SO BAD- the more pressure the better (tmi- sorry) to releive the pain- but today- is january 22nd- and no af- no spotting even- I've had headaches for a week now- cramping- (very mild though) no boobs- they stopped hurting jan. 9th or so. bloated though-
I've been feeling sick to stomach too- never vomitted though- but so bad- taking pepto bismal-(sp?) almost every 2 hours- to get some relief- can't sleep on tummy or back- not really getting a good night sleep at all- dh's snoring is so much louder- ears hurt like crazy- SO I THOUGHT- maybe- could i be- so on 1/16 i tested- I"M SUCH AN IDIOT- of COURSE it was neg- so i waited for af- still nothing- so retested again- I"M A LOSER... on 1/21- neg-

but today- sharper pains- and came home- and slept on couch from 4-9pm- finally some sleep- my head is killing me- tummy too- and still no af- JUST COME ON WITH IT!!!!!!! already.... (and today- way too much info- I had so much GAS- i've never been that bad- and went to bathroom and it was green- DARK green- what the??????? any rare illnesses going on???
plus- can you say moody!!!!!! dh is just PISSING me off- I just want to scream- then cry then yell then- cry- then SCREAM-

actos- easier to take than glucophage- I love it- one small pill- compared to the 4 smelly awful- gross pills-

Don't know if I have ever ovulated though- can't get pg without ovulating- don't temp- since sleeping pattern is never the same- EVER-
