I just had an injection of methotrexate April 11. The reason being that my hcg levels never rose nor dropped, just hovered in the range of 50-57, when I was supposed to be 7 wks along! They never could confirm ectopic, even though I had tons of scans, but I was having pains that would come & go(pelvic & side). So, after much consideration I went ahead with the treatment, to prevent any possible damage to my tubes-in case of ectopic. My levels currently are at 18.7. I emailed my Dr for a birth control rx. He wasn't there, but another Dr responded, said he would call that in for me. I also asked if I need any more level checks-one is shceduled for two wks out. Then I asked if I should wait for my hcg levels to zero out, or start birth control right away. This Dr informed me to start Sunday(tomorrow)as that is the first day listed on the pill pack. This Dr isn't my regular Dr. I first saw him about a year ago & he gave me some info that was totally not correct! If anyone has any input on this subject I would like to hear from you. Is it ok to take birth control even though hcg levels aren't at zero yet?? I just don't want to mess anything up, as my body already is somewhat!!
