Starting clomid for the first time...any buddies?

Hey ladies, I am finally starting clomid for the first time tonight!!! This is day 5 for me. Just wondering if anyone else will be on this path with me? Any words of encouragement. This is also our first month to TTC so any advice on bd positions, time of day....

Good luck anselmi! I have done 3 cycles of clomid 50 mg. First 2 produced O, third did not. 1st cycle bfn, 2nd cycle - chemical pregnancy. Once thing I noted after 1st cycle - my cm was significantly thicker, more like snot (sorry) than egg white. Therefore on the next cycle (which resulted in chemical pregnancy) we used PreSeed - a lubricant designed for ttc. I would suggest having some of that on hand in case your CM looks thicker (have read can happen to 30% of women on clomid). I get mine online (live out of the country) so don't know if local drugstores typically carry it.

Also, I have a son already - conceived only thru charting on second cycle (miracle)! Because I wasn't on a timeline and hadn't gone too long without conceiving, we weren't doing anything special re: positions. Actually I noticed ewcm so hubby and I took a shower together - standing up is not typical reco for ttc (way tmi, sorry!), but it worked for us.

BTW, will have bloodwork results next week to see if dci/pinitol supplementation produced O (started after realized I didn't O on 3rd cycle of clomid). If that worked for me will try that route next cycle, otherwise on to clomid 100 mg.

Best of luck! I'm in my first cycle of Clomid too. Wicked hot flashes, but beyond that, nothing to write home about. I'm just waiting on my O at this point! Trying not to drive myself nuts with obsessing over my chart. LOL.

Hey good luck, yeah I had night sweats but and a few head aches but other than that I am just waiting to O too, im in cd11...are you getting us or anything to monitor for o or just watching your cm...for me im just watching my cm and doing a 7dpo blood test. Oh and I'm doing bbt but ive never had much luck with that, so we will see...best of luck! And keep me posted! Waiting to O is annoying!

This is my first cycle on clomid last cycle I used femara 5 mg no luck. But I would also recomend buying preseed. good luck

Yeah I have preseed but havn't used it yet, we have the external lube that we have been using until i see an o! Good luck to you too!

Just wanted to wish you good luck! Also, let me warn you about something. I got a terrible, antibiotic resistant UTI from the combination of low estrogen (clomid), not peeing right after sex (y'know), and preseed. I had never had a UTI before. We continued to use preseed, but I was very careful to wait 10 minutes exactly and then get up to pee.

OK maybe TMI :p

anselmi - I'm checking CM, BBT, and OPK. My doc is not monitoring me. I'm getting a bit worried that I'm not going to O, but I guess worrying about that won't change it!

rachael07 - Thanks for the tip! I'm prone to UTI anyway, so knowing a combo of potential enemies is always good!

AFM - Still staring at my chart as if somehow it will change its mind and it will be O time for me. LOL. I'm very busy this week, my students' dance recital is friday, and DH and I are re-covering our hideous couch to look a little more chic. Distractions abound, thank goodness.

Well I am charting my CM and doing BBT. cd12 and no sign of O yet, I am so very dry actually. I heard that clomid can do that, but i am also taking 500mg of vitamin B6 and Fertil CM that are both designed to help that out...guess it still may be to early to O...unfortunately my job is slow and we dont have a lot going on in our life right now so im starting to obsess! Oh and my sistern'law, who has an 18 month old, started to TTC last month and told me yesterday she's 6months pregnant...this is going to get difficult!!! (but i am so very excited for them, dont get me wrong)

Nytepyre-I have been doing progesterone shots to start AF for the last few months too. Did the Dr want you to start progesterone on a certin day if you even if you havn't Oed??

Hi Girls,
I'm extremely new to this, just got back from the gyno today who prescribed 50mg Clomid. I'll be interested to hear how you go and will definitely keep you posted once i get started on it.
I've got an added problem of my H low sperm count - it's a tough time - but trying to remain positive!

anselmi - I was always given the go-ahead to take it as soon as the scrip was filled, but I do NOT O on my own, at all. ever. So I don't know if that comes into play. I am curious about this cycle, though, as I don't think I'm going to O, when do we start cycle #2? But I'll let this whole thing play out before crossing bridges I'm not on.

Tissen - Welcome to SC! Having MF too must be tough, but there are lots of success stories on here where all the odds were stacked against the couple and they now have beautiful babies! Best of luck on your first round of Clomid!

AFM - Well, as already stated I don't think I'm going to O, or did already O on this cycle of 50mg. My chart seems to be stacking up as very anovulatory already, but I'm trying not to put the cart before the horse and just let it play out before jumping to conclusions. I found out I have to have my wisdom teeth removed, and you cannot be pregnant and get the surgery with full anaesthesia, which I KNOW I need, so scheduling that around my most current and upcoming 2ww is a pain. Especially when you're not sure if you O'd!! But more on that as it develops.

Tomorrow is spring dance recital for my students, so busy day today and tomorrow. We're doing Alice In Wonderland, its very cute. I'm also teaching one of my friends some cake decorating skills this morning, so a little cake party is great, and JoAnn's has some wonderful coupons, so I'm off to crafting heaven.

Hi there,

I'm a thin cyster who is also on her 1st month of clomid!

I've been put straight on 100mg cd3-7.

I'm now on cd 16 and yesterday I got a positive OPK!

No ewcm yet...hopefully it will come!

I'm feeling really hopeful.

I also had HSG done this month to check my tubes were clear...they are! So I'm on a high because PCOS is the only problem I have to deal with so I know that I will get pregnant, it's just a matter of finding out which medication works for me!

Here's hoping it's Clomid 100mg.

I'm not getting monitored by doctor, he has given me 3 months supply of clomid and told me to go for it!

My side effects:
- Headaches whilst taking the tablets
- Moodiness!!!

I'm also on Metformin 1000mg.

Oh Mandy, i know what you mean about the moodiness... I feel like a super Bit%$!

Can someone tell me after you take the primolut that brings on a period, how long does it usually take to actually get your period? days... weeks...?

Hey! I did 3 rounds of Clomid- I ovulated the first time, but not the 2nd time so they increased my doseage- i ovulated and last week got a positive pregnancy test. I should be about 5 weeks along now and will be going to the doctor in 2 weeks. Praying that everything is healthy. We have been off birth control since April of 2008... didn't start Clomid though until February. Good Luck!
