Default Starting herbs...a little confused

Hi everyone,

DH and I are TTC. I went off bcp in Nov last year and ovulated on my own for 5 cycles, although the cycles were around 43 days. Now I've stopped ovulating altogther and had my last AF July 3. I am currently on Provera to kick start AF.

I am taking one capsule of Dong Quai everyday and taking raspbery leaf tea. I have been putting a dropperful of Vitex in the tea but am concerned about that. I read something Kat wrote in an earlier post about NOT taking vitex if you already have high LH. But doesn't that apply to all of us? I'm scared to take it if it will make things worse. Also, is it Ok to take to mix the two? Will heating the vitex like that affect it? Finally, I am planning to try SPI and lunaception this next cycle. I bought the SPI 40 mg tablets, but am unsure of how much to take. I weigh 133 pounds and am 5'6". I haven't been checked for IR yet.

Thanks so much for any advice you can give!

californiasun,

Just wanted to give you a little bump...I'm in the same boat as you, but a few months behind (see info in sig). Last time I went off BCP about five years ago, I Oed for a few months, then nothing.
I too have high LH...actually, this is my only apparant lab discrepancy that points me toward PCOS (although, I have many other symptoms).
I had heard that Vitex couldn't hurt with high LH as it works to regulate your cycle. However, I don't know how it's affecting me as I haven't gone through a cycle with it yet. I'd be very interested to hear what other have to say about this...so please comment away!

californiasun,
I got off bcp in nov. too! I think I o'd the first 5-6 months then nothing. I am currently taking 1500mg of glucophage XR but that wasn't doing it for me (today I am on CD 60)... SO about a week ago I went to the nat. foods store and bought vitex. My LH level is also high... but if you aren't Oing you'll try most anything.

Anyway! my bbt dropped and I got nervous... but continued to take it. This morning I had a serious spike. I think it is all due to the vitex. I am about the same size as you and take 400mg in the morning and again at night. I can't guarantee that this is O... or that vitex is making it happen. But I think that it is.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Thanks for your replies. Even though I still have so many questions it helps so much to know there are others out therein the same boat. Best of luck to you both!

Default Bump....I NEED HELP TOOO!

Hi,
I am just frustrated, and have bought several herbs, but am not sure if I'm doing the right thing.

I was wondering if you could possibly help me??

I have just a bit of breakage in my hair and its thinning a little, obviously messed up periods because I have PCOS, etc...

I just bought saw palmetto, a B-100 dosage that has like 5000% of the RDA of all these different B vitamines (from GNC), a hair/skin/nails formula (from GNC), vitex (but it is only at 40 mg, is that enough?), Fish oil (omega 3), and inositol.

Now I hear about Black Cohish, ahhh!!!

I dont know what to take, where to start....etc. Can ANYONE please help me? Thanks!!!

Annette
