Thumbs up Starting MET!

Hi all! I was diagnosed with PCOS in April and immediately put on Spiro. I only took it for a few months because I was getting my period every two weeks. I figured I would wait it out, but my insurance ran out when I quit my job. At that time, I started taking Hyponidd and Cinnamon along with Saw Palmetto. I was getting a regular period on those, but wasn't seeing weight lose results. Well I just got new insurance, so I went to see my doctor today. I told him that I really didn't want to go back on Spiro because I didn't like the fact that I was getting a period every two weeks. So we talked about Met and he decided that we would try it. So I am starting out with 500mg for two weeks before I up it to 1000mg. I am pretty excited, mostly looking forward to losing weight. I have been working out hard with no results, so hopefully this will be the missing piece of the puzzle. I forgot to ask him, but does anyone know if I can take Met and Cinnamon?

Good Luck!

Most starts are very unpleasant... but keep at it... gradually all the symptoms will disappear, God willing.

Day ONE! Not bad at all, except I took the pill on an empty stomach and had a banana while driving to work. I usally eat at work, but it took me 20 minutes to get there. By the time I sat down in my office and stood up, I got very dizzy. So lesson learned! I will make sure I eat a full meal before taking my pill tomorrow. Other than that, no other side effects!

Yeah that's one of the lessons I learnt too... no pills on an empty stomach! Secretly, I think some of the symptoms are just psychological... you read up so much about people suffering from bad stomachs and stuff, you think you're going to go there too. But in my case, my stomach took the path less traveled by... so individual differences in this case too.

SueAnn, today is day one for me and I took my 500mg with dinner. Do you feel good taking it with breakfast? So far I have no side effects but I'm already worried about what will happen a week from now when I start taking it with breakfast as well as dinner.

I feel good taking it in the morning! I will be adding my dinner pill in two weeks! I am kinda worried too cause I know I am lucky not to have any side effects! How do you feel? Are you trying to lose weight? If so, may I ask how much you weigh? I am at 179. And are you exercising too? I am.

I feel good! I went to the bathroom a little more than usual last night but honestly, that's about it. I'm kind of in denial that I feel so good, lol. Last night was the first night in a looooooooooong time that I wasn't starving at 9/10PM, it was AMAZING.

I definitely want to lose weight. I was thin my whole life until I got married and then I gained 40 lbs. I've lost 15 on my own but I weigh 165 now and want to be down to at LEAST 150, if not less. I exercise but to be honest, I mostly exercise in the spring/summer/fall. Winter I don't do so well!

I have been at 179 for about 8 years now. When I got pregnant with my son when I was 18 years old, I gained 62 pounds! And I haven't lost any of that weight! Pretty annoying huh? I ran 2 miles today and then did some weight lifting. I have been running that plus biking 3 miles with no problems, but today I felt like I over exerted myself. I don't know if that was a side effect from the Met. Who knows? Next workout will not be as intense just to test my hypothesis.
