I am starting Met 500 today. Any advice? Also, I have been doing Atkins for the past two days and saw that some of you have problems low carbing while on Met I'd love to hear more about that.
Thanks.

I've been on met for a year and a half. Take it at the same time every day. Be sure to eat something when you take it. Stay away from a lot of carbs. Chips, cookies you know, all the good stuff. Also fatty and greasy foods will make you feel sick. In the beginning eating a salad made my tummy upset. I never really had the potty problems others have had. It took about six weeks for me to feel better after starting met. It was worth it!!! God Bless. Pam
I took 500 mg for about 3 days and went ahead and bumped myself up to 1000 mg on Monday.
I had (and still have a little) pretty bad nausea, and a little fatigue, but other than that I'm okay. Only had diarrhea once one day. I don't feel like eating much, but I try to always eat something.
My BEST advice that I can give is to ALWAYS take your pill after eating. Even during doesn't help me as much as AFTER. Limit your carbs and fat intake. And, the #1 thing that helped me is to EAT. You won't feel like eating, but as soon as you do you feel better. Trust me!
Good Luck!

Me too Me too...starting Gluc tomorrow. I've been reading through this site for the last week or so. Thanks for all the shared info, it has helped to learn what may be expected. NOT to mention how relieving it is to see there is a common population out there. I think I've ran into a count of maybe 3 women max that I suspected having similar problems over the past 15 years or so. (Yes, it took me that long to go to the doctor.) How ridiculous is that !
Funny, the restrooms at my office never seemed very far from my desk....until after I've read your postings. hmmmm, now I think I'm alittle anxious about that one. =)
Hope everyone 'new to met' is getting on well with it. I'm on my 2nd day.

Day 2 and what I can say is this....I have felt a little tired and medicine heady, I dont feel like eating except when I feel pooped out as if I need energy and most of all...I am so darn thirsty! I can't explain it but I cant get enough water.
As far as Atkins, I have lost 2 lbs in 4 days and I can tell its from my waist. I have never had a waist until my brief pregnancy and now it is definatly smaller for the first time. I know it seems to early but I was shocked in the mirror this morning. I am tyrin gto keep it up.

I can only offer what my gyn said when she increased my dosage from 500 to 1000 mg per day .....
Never take it on an empty stomach..
Eat healthy - not too many fats and carbs but enough nutrition.
Increase dosage gradually.
For long term usage, take Vitamin supplements (B6, B12 and Folic acid)
