Default Starting my first round of clomid tonight ...

I'm starting my first round of clomid today in preparation for an IUI. My RE has me starting at 100 mg and I'm a little worried about the side effects. Thankfully whatever wicked transformation occurs, at least I won't be at work.

I'm also doing acupuncture through ovulation day. And, I've just started taking Royal Jelly and Bee Pollen in honey, which is supposed to help with all of this, in addition to the d-chiro-inositol, extra mega-doses of B vitamins to make up for the depletion of them caused by long term metformin use, pre-natal vitamins, flax-seed oil, thyroid and bp meds. I'm sure I left something out

All the pills/vitamins I'm taking for all of this is starting to make me nervous... it feels so unnatural, and all to accomplish something that is supposed to be so natural. At times the irony of it makes me laugh, at other times I find it scary and out of control.

How do you handle all of this?

My first round of clomid was a breeze. No side effects or anything. Good luck to you. What is d-chiro-inositol?

I am getting ready to start my 2nd round of Clomid (150 mg) on Saturday morning. I started with 100mg and was really nervous. My only side effects were hot flashes and since I took them in the pm I couldn't sleep...seriously no sleep. If you can I would suggest taking them earlier to aviod sleepless nights. Try not to worry too much. I know how hard that is being the queen of worry.

Good luck to you!

I started on my first clomid on 6/30 which was cd3. I'll be doing an u/s on cd12 which is 7/9, then we will possibly do trigger shot. Maybe by the end of the month, we'll be pregnant. This is our first attempt ttc and we are getting real excited but scared that its going to take a long time with PCOS. I guess I'm glad that my RE decided to do the meds and trigger shot early, so we are not trying for years with no results. I've done tons or research on the best doctors and know what expected if my PCOS. I just don't want this happy time to be all about charts, temps and numbers. So the only montoring that I'll be doing is from the doctor. Oh yeah I do have a 15mm cyst on my right ovary. Good Luck ladies.

tennyshoe- Im with you. Im letting my doctor do all the monitoring as well. I am seeing a doctor in Ft. Worth who I think is great. They told me not to even invest in OPK because they will let me know what I need to do and when I need to do it. As of Monday, I will have had 3 u/s in the last 10 days. I think that is pretty good monitoring from them. I did my first cycle of clomid starting 6/25 day 3-7 100 mg and it appears that it did not work. I am going in Monday again to confirm that it didnt and take provera to induce a period so we can try again. The nurse mentioned injections. Not sure if theyre the kind you do at home or in their office but I will find out soon enough! I dont want to try for years on end either but I guess I will do what the lord wills me to. I think my doc is pretty aggresive and he has told me in confidence that he thinks this will happen for me, I guess its just a matter of when.

Thank you!

D-chiro-inositol is a dietary supplement that is supposed to help with insulin resistance and in at least one or two studies been shown to help women ovulate.

I'm not promoting d-chiro, but it seems to have allowed me to add some fruit back into my diet without having me swell up with water-- a symptom of too much insulin being released in response to carb consumption. As for ovating, I ovulate fine provided I take my metformin and keep my carb consumption low (very very low, like below 50 g per day--which becomes very difficult and boring for me after about 6 months--so I tend to bounce around, 6 months low carbs and about 3 months out of carb control).

There is only one place that I've found where d-chiro is sold and that's from a company called Chiral Balance. If you google that, you will find their website. There are articles about the two studies on d-chiro posted at their website. If you do a search on the discussion boards here there is also a long discussion chain about d-chiro where you can find out more about how it has helped or not helped others.

Thank you for the suggestion. It hasn't kept me up at night. In fact, I don't seem to have had any side effects at all and my clear blue easy monitor is telling me my estrogen started surging today (cd7), which makes me think I might actually ovulate on my own before I'm scheduled for my us--which is this Friday.

Today, just starting a little while ago, I started having teeny tiny little mittelschmertz cramps. Other than that, everything is the same as always...although I seem to have been a little bit more in the mood to chase my DH into the boudoir than is usual during the first week of my cycle... : )

tennyshoe- Good luck to you! I had my CD13 u/s today for my first round of clomid, which I already pretty much knew was a bust from my CD 9 u/s. I started Provera, which I will stay on for 5 days and when I get my period I am going back to RE for injects so we can do IUI this round. It seems like it is all happening so fast, but I am glad my doctor isnt wasting my time. Let us know how your u/s goes!

My first round with clomid was 100mg, no s/e with the exception of hot flashes. I started 150mg yesterday and still no s/e, and only 1 hot flash today for about 2 minutes.
