Question Starting Yasmin soon

Hi all...Starting Yasmin soon & wanted to hear some experiences from the women who have been on it..Do any of you know if its a good idea to take it if you already have a history of depression? Since I have a history I am kind of worried about having my depression worsen..My GYN said its mandatory that I go on BC to regulate my periods but im scared of the side effects!

Hi! Just wanted to drop you a little note and let you know that I also have thread running on Yasmin. I started it on my doctors advice because they found that it does reset your periods for you. Which for me is great news seeing as I have had a total of two periods this year. One non BCP induced and the last one was while I was on Yasmin. I have not noticed any negative side effects at all and am really happy about that. Normally BCP's give me rip ragin' headaches that turn into three to five day long migraines. Umm.. I am glad to be on the Yasmin also because all the unused estrogen was building up in my system and turning into androgens a male puberty hormone and causing me to get horrible horrible cystic acne. Most of it has cleared up with the help of Yasmin, Proactiv, and Doxycycline but I still have a few bad ones that I am more than likely to have to go see a Derm about. So I wish you all the luck and remember because it is a medication never hesitate to talk with your Health Care Provider about it. Some Medications work on some people while they may not work on others. Hopefully you can find a combo that is right for you.

Good Luck and God Bless!!

I've been on Yasmin for about 4 yrs. I also have a history of depression and take doxepin for it. I have never had problems with the Yasmin/doxepin combo. I also have very little acne after starting Yasmin. Before, I have been on 2 rounds of Accutane, done antibiotics, retin-A, proactiv, just about anything to get rid of the cystic acne. I still have an occassional outbreak, especially when I've been really stressed, but I can handle 3 or 4 small zits compared to being covered from head to foot with them.
