I've been waiting and waiting for my official and apostilled birth and marriage certificates to show up. I got an envelope from the Dept of Health.
THEY ARE NOT MY CERTIFICATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The birth certificate belongs to some guy named Anthony Barotta. And the marriage certificate belongs to Gianluca Corsi.
OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.
And I find this out AFTER my social worker calls wanting to know where our paperwork is because we haven't turned any in. And after she tries to talk us into only adopting one child at this time.
I don't know whether to scream or cry.
Where are MY certificates. The letter I wrote to vital stats is on my other puter that's unplugged and packed away. How could they get this SO messed up?????

Of course it's freaking Friday so I can't do anything about this til Monday.
Robin, I'm so sorry to hear all this is happening to you. OMG I would be freaking out also & probably would also be wanting a drink. Oh my goodness. I wish I could give you a big hug.

What is totally unreal is I provided the exact file number, and page number to find my certificates pronto. The deputy registrar for the state obviously printed out someone else's things and mailed them to me. They did not even have to run a search to find my stuff.
My mom thinks we should report this to our news station since this is a humonguous breach of privacy and confidentiality (esp the birth certificate).
I'm *trying* to get my original request off my old puter, but the thing is dying and keeps locking up. I can't wait to get it and return this stuff with a nasty letter.
Pure and simple, that deputy registrar (who I had emailed prior to sending in my request and money) is 100% i-d-i-o-t. Couldn't even read.
In my letter I'm going to demand they overnight this stuff at THEIR cost. Going to cc: this to somebody, like his supervisor. This is such a stupid mistake. But a huge one.
Can you imagine if some lowlife got hold of YOUR birth and/or marriage certificates. Thank goodness I have rotten credit, so identity theft might actually do me some good! hehehe
Enough ranting...now I gotta go fight my old puter again.
last autumn we ordered a duplicate copy of our marriage certificate and got someone else's. only that time, dh had gone in to pick it up and somehow he missed seeing that it was the wrong one! he mailed it to me in the uk, and i had to send it back to him in california!
i think what happened was that the two certificates (ours and the one that we were given) were printed at the same time by different people, and the person that picked it up from the printer was being about as aware of things as my dh was.
we got it sorted out quickly, and the registrar people were very embarrassed. actually, so was dh!
i hope you can get your mix up sorted out easily and quickly. good luck.

Robin...I think you should still contact one of the TV stations. Even though you got your papers, it still represents an alarming privacy issue. With identity theft being such a hot topic, this might be a GREAT story.
