Default statins as treatment for pcos

I have been reading in some british newspapers that Statins are a good treatment for PCOS. Has anyone any experience with these?

Many Thanks

More on pcos, high cholesterol, and statins:

PCOS doctor favors a cholesterol test as screening tool for PCOS

Simvastatin trial suggests statins may treat PCOS (testosterone 41% lowered)

Statins in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome

PCOS'ers should be offered treatment with Zocor - lower androgens and cholesterol

Statins have potential in the treatment of PCOS

ATTENTION: If you read NOTHING else this year on PCOS, Diabetes, and genetic links..

From what I have read, statins can have risky side effects, so I would do a lot of research first but that's just me and I'm a bit afraid of pharmaceuticals. I've read that red clover yeast or something is a natural statin that is supposed to have a similar effect with less side effects.

Hi LInz!

I too am very interested in this...but i dont think there, is much experiance, from anyone here, only for high colestrerol levels!!
so i think, im gonna try the vitamin D,Calcium, chromium, Co-enzeme supplements first...then maybe i might try statins , myself!!
have you got any more input, into this subject!?
love Ginax
