Default stay hairy for new doctor?

Hi!

I am seeing a new doctor (I've waited four months for this appointment!!!!!!!!!) and I'm sooo anxious to get a fertility workup and hormones tested.

The thing is, I am wondering if I shouldn't do my usual pre-doctor's-appt routine of shaving, waxing, and nair-ing my chest and belly button area. I am thinking that if the new doctor sees all the hair, she might be more inclined to help/ believe my situation. Do you all agree or am I just setting myself up for major embarrassment?

I've never done this before, so it would definitely be a first.

Thanks for any advice,
Suze

Leave it....there are scales by which your doctor can "rate" your hair growth patterns and how much. Don't worry about being embarassed, it's more important to give your new doc as much info as you can. And the hair growth is definetly relevant to PCOS. Good luck with your new doc!

If you would like to see the scales for hair growth, check out this website:

Wow! That's really interesting!

It will take all the willpower i have to go in hairy, but I know it's for the best. I say that but in the back of my mind I'm still worried they will think I'm a freak of nature. Oh well, if Posh Spice can be open about her PCOS, than I can too!!!

Maybe you can tell your doc why you didn't shave.... something like "I normally would shave....extensively....before a doctor's appointment, but I thought it might be important for you to see how much there is, and where it's at."

Posh Spice has PCOS?! I left the hair on my face, stomach, and chest for my new Endo to see. I was really embarrassed about my face because I had to see other people also. I just put my hair down, didn't look up as I walked through the hospital, and tried not to think about it. Good luck! Jean

I think I read about Posh Spice in one of Kat's articles. It said that Emma THompson also had pcos and fertility troubles, though Posh did not have problems conceiving. I think this is what it said... it was a while back that I read it.

Well, had the appt, and I did shave face, stomach, legs, etc. But I left (albeit trimmed) the chest hair. Told the doctor I "saved" it just for her, and got a bit of a smile at that remark. Of course I would never have done this years ago when those hairs were dark and coarse. They've lightened up/become finer since then.
