Question Still having pain...

I was "informally" dx with endo 3 mo. ago and my GYN started me on Yaz. 2 months later, I'm still having pain in my lower abdomen, which radiates to my back and down my legs during my period. How long does the bcp take to help? Does anyone have other thoughts or ideas for relief? I would like to avoid surgery, but I also realize that it may be inevitable. Help... I'm out of ideas.

I was very much like you - I wanted to do bcp and get through it that way. It got so bad that I couldn't walk even on bcp (i also had a lot of breakthrough bleeding issues).

The problem is, you are having pain and it needs to be determined if it is endo (and have it removed if possibe) or if it's not - then you really need to investigate what is going on.

When I went in to my dr 4 days before surgery she wanted it done the next day - so I don't think it's healthy to go as long as I did. I was lucky they fit me into their schedule so quickly but I was in so much pain at pre-op that I wasn't "in condition" for surgery (luckily after some pain killers my body was OK the next day for surgery).

I know this is not what you want to hear, but I did end up having surgery. Now I know for sure what is going on and the damage it has done it has been an eye-opener and I feel like I'm treating the problem w/ bcp now rather than covering up the symptoms to what we "think" is going on. Sometimes knowing for sure that it is endo can help...I was going crazy - why am I in pain ALL the time? Now I know and I'm getting through it.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I didn't even know endo was a possibility until my dr brought it up and it felt like hitting a wall.

Good Luck

Thumbs up

Thanks so much for the advice. I know it may not be what I want to hear, but I'm also trying to take in the reality of it all. Any other thoughts or suggestions?

Good luck. I am taking soy during ovulation and have noticed a reduction in my pain and bleeding.
