A couple of different threads indicated that thin cysters had weight problems after giving birth. I was just curious if this is a common situation for thin cysters or if they just had a hard time losing the weight despite PCOS. I know that even some normal women never get back to their normal weight after kids. I'm not TTC yet but I'm just trying to figure out what to expect when I do.
I lost all the baby weight (almost 40 lbs) within 6 months. It helped, I think, that I was breastfeeding. I was able to eat about twice that what I normally eat and I was still losing. . .my baby was just sucking the calories out of me faster than I could replace them!
Now that I've weaned him I don't notice any difference in my metabolism from beforehand, I mean, I am not gaining any more easily or anything. But then maybe sometimes that is more age-related too, as the people I know who are holding onto their baby weight more are often the older mommies.
I had my daughter in May of 2004, and by August of the same year I had eight pounds left of the 53lbs I had gained to get rid of. I got pg again when my DD was two and-a-half months old, so the eight pounds stayed - and I added an additional 45! I'm currently six and-a-half weeks post-partum, and I've got 20lbs left to go. I've already dropped 38 by restricting and looking after a one year-old and a newborn! I've hit a few plateaus, but otherwise the weight is coming off quite quickly. Also, I formula feed, so I'm not burning anything by breastfeeding.
HTH!

I think it is pretty common to have a hard time loosing pregnancy weight. But for me the PCOS came back post-partum about the same as I had it before.
I was IR and had trouble loosing weight, but I managed to losse 20lbs on a very low carb diet. So I was 125 pre-pregnancy. I gained 42 lbs and lost a lot by breastfeeding and living on a 4th floor walk up ;-). But the last 12lbs stuck so far. Since I stopped breastfeeding I have been back to having a really hard time loosing weight. If I eat more than 200 grams of carbs a day I don't loose weight. And I definitely notice a big difference in how my body reacts to good vs bad carbs. I can get away with eating a few more good carbs, but one candy bar and I gain a pound, even if I don't have dinner.
I know anothe rthin cyster mentioned she is having trouble with her weight post-partum, she is loosing more than she should, the breastfeeding versus IR battle.
