Default Stinky...down south

Many times though out the day I get a strong waft of....my PERSONAL AREA. It's very embarassing because I know that other people can smell it to. I'm a student of shiatsu ( bodywork) and sometimes I just pray that the persone I'm doing a treatment on is fast asleep or has a bad sence of smell. Every once in a whlile my ex boyfriend would say "wow..I can really smell your *****" when I came in the room he was in. What can I do?? I bathe daily, I trim, and I don't want to use synthetic feminine perfumes..Any ideas?

thanks

One thing that really helps is to wear all cotton underwear, none of that nylon slippery stuff, because that traps the odor. You have to be able to "breathe" down there.

Also, related to "breathing" down there...don't wear tight jeans or real tight trousers for many days in a row. I found that when I did this, I was more suseptible to yeast infections and such. Wear something looser.

Good luck

Kathryn

Good advice so far.

And try cornstarch powder, too. A big help. Change panties twice a day. Carry moist towlettes during the day to use in addition to toilet tissue. Use the breathable panty liners, so you don't have a solid layer of plastic inside your panties.

And glad to hear he was your "ex" boyfriend, otherwise, I'd tell you to slap him upside the head.

I would get to the doctor right away and rule out a yeast or bacterial infection. I had regular paps including std testing but they didn't check for a bacterial infection until I was in the stirrups waiting to have cryo! Of course it came back positive and I had to treat that before I could do the cryo.

I agree you should go check in with an OB/GYN. There are lots of mild infections that can cause a bad odor down there, and only specific ones are fought with the OTC yeast infection treatments. I once noticed after using the bathroom after my mom that there was a very noticable odor. Almost had a hint of tuna fish. Weird, but I mentioned it to her, and she told me she had noticed it too. She went to her GYN who told her she had a mild infection. A course of antibiotics specific to the infection took care of it right away.

I've been told by medical professionals that if you have blood sugar and/or insulin problems, you are twice as likely to have vaginal infections than healthy women! Sugar in your system creates an environment for yeast and bad bacteria to thrive in.

I noticed that I would have more bacterial infections when I wasn't paying attention to what I was eating. It sounds wierd, but I could almost feel a change if I had eaten alot of fatty foods.
So try to avoid high-fat choices, such as regular cheese, butter and cream.

One gynecologist also told me that drinking plenty of water will also flush your reproductive system somewhat, or help you get passed the pH imbalances.

Hope that helps!

Christy

Post not necessarily "cycline"

Just wanted to say I've had this a zillion times, always treated it with oral, distusting-tasting flagyll, and all the while DH was giving it back to me. Get your partner treated too (if applicable) and then ask for the antibiotic "Metro" gel--you use it like a yeast cream, but it worked for me and was much less invasive than the pills (everytime I take an antibiotic I feel MORE tired etc).

Default Heres a folkcure

Don't know about if it works or not, but it's suppose to kill bacteria. Try using plain yogurt like a vaginal bolus. It helps yeast infections, but it might help this to.

Yogurt helps yeast infections because the live bacterial cultures "eat" the yeast. They don't do anything about other bacteria, so if it's not a yeast infection yogurt won't help.

That being said, one of the major signs of bacterial vaginosis is a fishy or musty smell.

Many doctors are divided on whether or not the male partner reinfects the female with bacterial vaginosis. Some believe they do and are willing to prescribe something for him, while others don't.

I personally believe that the male does reinfect the female. What do you do when you're diagnosed with bacteriol vaginosis, but your doctor isn't willing to give something for your partner?
