Hi Guys,
I made the mistake of after no food yesterday bc Ive been so nauseated, eating a grilled cheese with LF cheese. Well let me tell you the nightmare started around 11 pm with stomach cramps so bad, I got on the floor in the fetal position and just waited for it to pass. Lets just say, I didnt sleep much, running to the bathroom all night waiting for cramping to stomp, and Im STILL cramping this morning, though it is much less.
Im on Met ER, 500 mg x 2 a day. Day 5 of starting med.
I can only imagine it was the carbs in the bread, just wondering if anyone has the same reaction and what you do to relieve them? I cant have another night like last night, it was awful.
Thanks much!!
Emily - sorry to hear about those cramps , I also am on Met 500 ER twice a day, I take both of mine with dinner ...and I have learned of a few things that I cannot have, but bread does not seem to be one of them ... seems like chips and anything sweet give me gas and diareah...there is really nothing to do except wait it out, maybe some Mylanta Gas would help?
You will learn as time goes by what you can and cant get away with , good luck!!

By accident, I missed 1 day of Metformin ER 750 mg. 2/day. Now, day 3 of returning, I am still having the stomach cramps, nausea-nothing sounds appetizing, headache, etc...Oh & on top of it, I got my period.
My advice....don't miss a day....but I know, from experience, it does get better.
Good Luck.

I have to watch the amount of carbs I eat at any meal, anything high up there, just will ruin the next 24 hours. I love tortillas, and found I can stomach one low carb tortilla with cream cheese. Ive been eating chicken salad with lo fat mayo, baked chicken, pork tenderloin. I will work my way up to oatmeal and low carb bread, but right now those things just will not work.
Even with the low carb amount, I still will have a pang of cramp or intense bloating. I notice as each day passes everything gets easier.
I would NOT recommend cereal or chex at the beginning. Work your way up to it, that was the most miserable 24 hours Ive had in a long time. Ive also found how much I love the laughing cow light cheeses and low fat mozzarella for snacks and or wrapped up in some turkey deli slices.
My mainstay, almonds. Smoked, plain, natural, bbq...when I need to eat something, and Im not hungry, but know I need some calories and fats, a handful of those will always hit the spot.
Ive also found that my beloved coffee also causes me some stomach pain, Ill just have to work up to that also.
Overall my sleepiness has subsided and my desire to crawl in a hole and stay there has as well. I do keep a lot of gasx and pepto on hand, and have learned to take a ginger pill and gas-x with each Met.
I am ***SOO** glad to ahve found this thread!! Let Me Explain....
Went to docs last week complaining of so called cramps....explained that i havent had AF since May and that although I expected to not have a period, the cramps I was getting were similar to AF cramps. Also how I would end up in curled up in a ball to relieve the cramps. His reply?
"ITS ALL IN YOUR HEAD"
yup! thats what he said! Bearing in mind I'm an 18 year old girl, who doesnt really know ANYTHING about PCOS. When he said he though it was PCOS he told me
"Go have a look about it on the internet" - Love It!
So I've been suffering from these cramps since i started met 6 weeks ago and NEVER thought it could be food related! So...
THANK YOU LADIES
