Default stomach flu and metformin- how to handle?

I've had the stomach flu for 3 days now- trying to still take the met but it's not always staying down especially since I can't take alone I have to take with food. How many doses can I miss before it causes a problem? My dr. said not to worry about it but I'm also afraid of how bad the symptoms were when I first started Met and don't want to go back to that...
how have others handled it?

I had this same problem last year. Then I decided to stop taking it while sick. That was a mistake I had to restart a month later and go through all the stomach drama.
My Dr has actually told me to not take the MET on days that I think running to the potty wont be as easy. Like road trips etc. Of course that was when it is new to the system and caused me troubles. I think a few days of it not staying down will not be too bad.
My suggestion would be try to take it if you can. I know it may add to your troubles but it will be worth it later.
Get some rest and I hope you feel better soon!
