so i have been getting emails daily with the title of the thread's i've been posting in. this could be potentially embarrassing if someone sees these emails. i went to user CP and options and unchecked everything about receiving emails yesterday, but i got another round of them today. how can i stop all emails from this site?

Did you go to edit option> Messaging & Notification> Default Thread Subscription Mode> and choose "no email notification"? If so, try it again. It should work - there might have just been a blip the first time.

You may also have to change the settings of the threads you posted in before you changed the broader settings. Let me know if you want me to explain that, I can't think how to do it off the top of my head.
