Stopped BCP & no AF since Aug!!

I went off BCP about 5 yrs ago. I have always been irregular, in that while I get AF every month my cycles vary f/ 28 to 31 to 35 to 42....yada yada, pretty much every month, even on the pill. I recently went back on and after 2 mos. remembered why I stopped. I was on Alesse. I think I stopped in Aug. and have not had AF since Aug. 21. I thought that stopping the pill usually brought Af on but she is nowhere to be seen. Has anyone else had this experience and if so, how long did it take for AF to finally return? (I am not pg).

i have had that experince. i was on the pill since i was 13 (i am almost 18 now) and in that time i have stopped and started the pill waiting for a few months for my period to come. before i had stopped for four of five even six months and nothing so i went back on. then i stopped a year ago, and i waited nine months for mine to come.

I had the same thing, I went on the pill because I had gone for months w/out a period, was on the pill for 12 years and was regular as clockwork, went off the pill and went three months with no AF. I called my doctor and she put me on provera (10 pills I think?) to get AF. i haven't actually had a period without either BCP or Provera since I was 16. *sigh*

From what I have been told, it is not good for your body not to get AF (can lead to fibriods and such) so if you are going months (more than 45 actually) between AFs, you should see a doctor about some form of medicine to regulate (either BCP, or if TTC metformin or something). if you hate your BCP, you can try switching. I hated BCP until I went on Yasmin and although I hate drugs in gereral, it is the most tolerable BCP for me.
