Question Stopping BCPS....

Okay I currently just finished my last pill in the pack on Saturday. I was on OrthoTricycline Lo. I started on bcp less then a year after my first menstual cycle. I don't know what to expect in coming off of it. Anyone have any input or had a similar experience? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Stopping bcp for me left me feeling tired and dizzy and basicly just drained, i was on yasmin the full dose one not yaz, so i had alot of estrogen in my system, well sad to say my acne came back, but i after i withdrawled for like a monyh or two i felt my anxiety and depression go away and i became a nice person again, with stable moods?!!! I couldnt belive the pill could change my out look on life so much. anyhow now im on the pill again and my body is adjusting to the new marvelon pill, it gave me deep cyst like zits that are spreading so i stopped it i was on that pill for about 6 months, the acne just got worse and so did the depression. so now im gonna stop the pills and try ortho cyclen next month, well see how it goes from there. getting off the pill came help in the long run but make you feel like crap while your getting used to stuff again, i felt great off the pill emotionally though.

Honestly, I felt fine when I came off TriCyclen to TTC. I was on it for 8 years; previously, I'd been on the Depo shots, and hated those. I stopped getting AF when I was on the Depo shots, and didn't get one again for a year after stopping them, when I took Provera to bring it on so I could start BCP.

I never had a normal cycle before I was on hormonal birth control, and didn't after, either. I quit in the middle of a pill pack, since I kept screwing up and forgetting to take them, anyway. My first AF came about the same time it would've if I was still on pills, and then about 45 days. But then it stopped altogether--bad when we were TTC!--and I didn't have one for about 6 months, until I started Met.

But I think I probably felt better off the pills than I did on--I didn't have the headaches that I did on the pills, and it didn't make an impact on my skin or anything like that. I am back on the Tricyclen right now, but I want to look into switching (though with my age and the fact that I've taken hormonal bc for so long, I should probably be looking into something else). To tell you the truth, I probably "quit" the BCP every cycle, because I hate the headaches and feeling crappy. But then--sigh--I realize that there's always the slight, slight possibility that I could get pg without medical intervention, and dh and I don't want another one right now, so I end up starting a new pack within a week or two.

Good luck!
