Unhappy strange AF for 2 cycles

Aloha All,
i was diagnosed with pcos in november 2002. i've been taking clomid since last april. AF has been really strange the last 2 cycles. 1st cycle for the first 2 days it was just dark spotting kind of on the thick side, then bled for 2 days but not heavy at all. last cycle 4 days of that same dark spotting no bleeding. called the doctors with concerns, went in to take a ept..bfn! said that i needed to go back to take another ept test on the 15th. should i request a blood test instead? my mom said that when she was pg with me the tests showed bfn until she was 3 1/2 mons along! could i be like her?? i dont know what to do! please help!!!

Dee,

Good luck on getting that BFP. I, too, am ttc.

I am curious though as to why you're still on Clomid. I've heard that taking it for more then 4 cycles actually does more harm then good. Usually when Clomid does not work for PCOS patients after 4 cycles, your ob/gyn transfers you to a reproductive endocrinologist who will usually put you on Metformin. The Met helps to make your body ovulate on it's own. Sometimes they add Clomid w/ Metformin, too. Are you on Met as well, or just the Clomid?

My sister had the dark brown stuff you talked about when she was preg w/ my neice. I've also heard other women say they had that when they were prego. But, I've had that a few times (actually my last period). So, who knows?

Aloha Carrie!

i'm not sure about the time scale of taking clomid..but i'll be calling my doctor tomorrow morning...i missed her call today...dang!...i used to take metformin but i had major mood swings and it wasnt nice for my husband it made me hate him big time! i was taking glyburide...but doc took me off of everything and started me on clomid..i started taking prenatal vitamins...and i think i'll start taking b12 also i see most women take it...i'll ask her about that too!...yeah its pretty freaky with that kind of AF...its not really AF its more like "auntie pudding" hahahaha!! i was also on meridia for awhile i lost 50 lbs taking it....but i've been off it a year now..and i've gained back about 10 lbs...that sucks!...anyways thanx for all the input it has helped to know that theres other women going thru the same stuff i am!.....
mahalo,
Dee

Dee-

As I have been learning if not showing up on preg tests runs in the family it could be the same for you. I'm TTC and finally am hauling my rear into the doc to see if I am or not... Doc's always said I had to be difficult Get a physical done-- better than the blood work. Doc can tell if they are looking at a preg Uterus.

Aloha All!
okay talked to the doctor last night...she had me take a blood test this morning and i'll get the results tomorrow....she said it could be 1 of 2 things...pg or lining not shedding properly...??...i dont know..a friend and myself will be going to acupunture therapy tomorrow morning she's ttc too! so the 2 big chickens are going to attempt to try this.....
oh, doc said i was on the clomid too long...i shouldve been on it for only 3 months! so needless to say i yelled at her 'cause should she have mentioned it in the beginning i wouldve been on top of it!...so if i'm not pg....then my dh and i have decided to wait until we get back from our vacation to start thinking about the next step to take.....which if i'm not pg will be a good thing just to relax and enjoy seeing & spending time with my in laws....but i'm still holding on to hope to be taking them some good news when we visit!
mahalo,
