I was diagnosed about 8 mths ago with PCOS. I spent most of my life being a skinny little thing and I had very little trouble with developing and periods etc. save the fact that I was a late bloomer. I had my first child when I was 20 and my second when I was 23. After my second child, I suddenly started gaining weight instead of losing the pregnancy weight. I actually weighed more after I gave birth than while I was still pregnant. I have gained a total of 50 lbs since and had a total of 2 periods last year. I have been told by more than 1 dr that this is very unusual to be diagnosed so late, and clearly, I did not seem to have this before. Has anyone else encountered this? I am very thankful that I have two beautiful daughters, but hubby and I are trying for another, and have been for about 14 mths now. The most painful thing for me at the moment is the weight gain. I feel like I am in someone elses body. It is hard to swallow and it is always on my mind! I really need some support with this!
I am 33 and just got diagnosed in late 2007. I've been heavy most of my adult life and unable to lose weight with no real knowledge why (I'm active, if not always consistent about getting to the gym). It wasn't until an MRI to followup on a back injury revealed cysts (string of pearls) and a doctor's visit to the gyno regarding that and a couple other symptoms led me to make an appt with an endo, who ran all the tests and gave the actual PCOS diagnosis. Now I am on met, doing a weight loss study through the Endo's office, I've lost 12 lbs since the beginning of the year and I finally feel like I might actually be a normal sized person one day.

Welcome I am in the same boat! I gain more weight after my pregnancies It seems like it is way harder to lose too! If you look at a picture of me right after I deliver I look pretty good and then six months later..I look way worse I believe it is from hormones being out of whack. I have yet to lose the weight and my son is 19 months old (blush)...I just wanted to let you know..that I know where you are coming from!
