Exclamation Strange hair

I have very strange hair on my head - most of my hair is quite straight and fine, but some of it is v.v. coarse and wiry - almost like hair from elsewhere, if you catch my drift. This problem practically ceased when I was on dianette BCPs, but has returned with a vengence along with all other hair probs since i came off it. Not a major problem, but can be the last straw on fat/hairy/bad skin days. I would be interested to know if anyone else has noticed anything similar!

ps pulling them out most definitely does not help!!!

Annieg,
The only thing that I've ever heard about that type of change in hair texture is that those follicles are making plans to go grey. Does this theory make sense for you?

I don't have the same problem, but I can relate to how you feel. Just when it seems that I've got a hold on what symptoms I have, I find something else. Some days, it's pretty hard to deal with... makes me just want to stay in bed all day with the covers over my head and wish to just one day wake up "normal." But as each day passes, I realize it's another day I've been strong enough to make it through. I hope you find something that helps. ((((hugs))))

Annie, I have that too! Very annoying isn't it, and so wierd? I used to think it was hair about to turn grey, but i have watched some strands over longer time and it just stays the same. My hair is blond and very long and dead straight, so I notice these darker wirey strands quite easily. I never have a lot of them, say 3-5 at one time, and have had them for years on & off. I do have some grey hair at 36, but it is completely different in texture, my greys are fine just like my blond hair.
So, can't tell you why!!!!

Glad I'm not alone! Wish they were just pre-grey hairs - then I could dye them! unfortunately it's the fine hair at the front that's going grey! (what a lovely combination!)

I also sometimes have the wiry coarse hair. It's never a lot for me either. I've had them for a long time (I'm 21 now). I've never really thought anything of them until now!

Just wanted to let you know you were not alone!!

Wink me too!

I have naturally thick curly hair, but these 'rogue hairs' are out of control. My hair is blonde and these guys are jet black, kinky and do whatever they want. Its great when you pull your hair back into a ponytail and notice 10 of them sticking straight up. I just keep pulling them out, what else can you do? The real kicker is my 9 year old son, who has very fine white-blonde hair also has them! My other kids don't. So i don't know if its a PCOS thing or just bad luck. I do know its just another thing to put up with in a seemingly never ending list of things to put up with, you know? LOL.

I can relate to that, I always put it down to regrowth for hair that I lost, I have heard that people who lose hair with things like chemo if they had straight hair the regrowth could be curlier. I am just glad it is replacing what was missing. Mind you it is annoying when they just stick up out of the top of your head.
