Wasn't sure exactly where to post this...but because I'm looking for something natural, thought I'd try here.
This month we are going to start TTC. I'm a large framed gal and I've already got fine white stretch marks that haven't left from puberty.
So, I'm really going to be proactive before pregnancy and find out anything that would help in 1) preventing stretch marks or 2) diminishing the look of current stretch marks. I'd prefer something natural.
People who I know who have not got stretch marks during pregnancy have used:
Coconut Oil (my mother, not one stretch mark after 4 kids. Mind you she moisturised with coconut oil for years before and after pregnancy)
Cocoa Butter (Palms range)
Almond Oil
Olive Oil (from the pharmacy, it's pure stuff)
Bio Oil (my pharmacist used and swears by it)
What is your experience? I'll try almost anything natural.

I sure hope someone has an answer for you, because I'm curious too! I was overjoyed to have made it thru my pregnancy (going from 154 to 182) with only five small stretchmarks...cut to a year later, where I hit a high of 194 and am COVERED, from my elbows to my knees, in hundreds of stretch marks...if anyone has any ideas, that would be awesome.

I've heard that cocoa butter works really well, but haven't used it myself. I came across your posts searching for answers and was surprised when people hadn't posted yet. So... I did my own searching through the other forums and this is what I found:
www (dot) soulcysters (dot) net/stretch-marks-289691/ - This is posted under the Pregnant Cysters forum, but I'm pretty sure the principle will be the same.
www (dot) soulcysters (dot) net/can-you-get-rid-stretch-marks-281279/ - And this one was under Fashion & Beauty.
Hope this helps and hope we can get some more opinions!
(FYI: as I'm new to SC, apparently there are restrictions on posting links in posts before I've posted a certain number of posts. So just substitute the "(dot)" with the normal ".")
So, I don't know if this is helpful at all, but I saw this site the other day that sells an e-book offering a massage technique that is supposed to dramatically improve stretch marks, and I think you buy your own products, so I'm sure you could use natural products.
That's the page, but I have to say, I haven't tried it myself, and am on the fence about whether to try it (I have yucky stretch marks on my stomach and inner thighs, and some more minor ones in other places). Anyway, though I can't say whether its any good, or even if it may be a scam? It seems like a small investment to find out, and it makes sense to me that something like massage could improve stretch marks more than any product alone. If I end up trying it, I'll let you know how it goes

One Lady I knew years back was having twins and she rubbed general household cooking oil (cant recal if it was canola or olive oil) into her belly each day as a preventative. I'm not sure if it would be a cure for existing marks. Apparently it worked really well, but when she would burp she could taste it (i have no idea why or how that is possible). I'm going to have to start a regime soon so interested to hear everyone elses thoughts too.

These are great, keep it coming! It seems that oil based stuff seems to be popular as is cocoa butter. I hope some more cysters post who have some experience, it would be interesting.
Mandyloo, my friend swore by Bio Oil for reducing the look of her stretchmarks (from weight gain in general, not pregnancy). I tried it for my white stretchmarks and I really don't think it helped. However, her and I have different skin tones, I'm more olive whereas she's fair, that could be the difference.
Looking forward to hearing about more remedies...

Unfortunately for existing stretch marks, nothing has really been "proven" to minimize the appearance, or at least enough for my satisfaction. I have horrendous stretch marks all over my abdomen, inner thighs, arms, breasts, etc. I got most of them being pregnant the first time, I gained around 80-90 lbs. Now that I've finally lost all that weight, and am back around what I was before I had my first baby, the skin is just saggy, loose, like I can pinch it and pull. Its alot thinner than other areas. I wish there was a non surgical alternative to getting rid of the damn things/excess skin.
My mother doesn't have 1 stretch mark never used anything in any of her pregnancy, but her mother and several sisters did use different moisturizers and had them. Its unfortunately in the genes.

Samie, I've heard it's in the genes too, a few people have said that. But my mother and grandmother have none at all (my grandmother had 9 kids!!!). And, already, at 31 with no pregnancies, I have fine white ones :-(.
But I really do think stretch marks can be somehow prevented if the skin is well lubricated. Well...I'm actually hoping :-). So I'm going to do my best and try to prevent more coming.
I've even read that you can use microdermabrasion on dark ones (not the white stretch marks). I can't even imagine how much that would cost.
