Red face Struggling with High Cholesterol

Hi, I'm a thin cyster and when I was diagnosed I found out that I also suffer from high cholesterol. I about hit the floor I was so shocked. I've always eaten well and couldn't believe it. But I guess the numbers don't lie. Since then I've changed to soy milk and eaten even less meat than before. I've upped the veggies and whole grains. I'm hoping to start exercise and heart healthy classes soon. The Dr. is stressing lifestyle changes and not meds... but what else can I be doing???

Have any of you had this problem? What lifestyle changes have you made and have you found a meal plan that has been successful for you???

Thanks in Advance,
Christy

Hi

I know what you mean. I am always sooooooo careful on what I eat, and my cholesterol was always high!! My endo said that it's genetic, as my dad had it too.

So now I take 20 Lipitor (Atorvastatin ) a day.
hth.

I'm with Eva (or rather her doctor :-)).
Elevated cholesterol is usually caused because the body produces too much, especially in a case as you described - where you're already so careful with what you eat.

Try reading the book "The UltraPrevention Plan". I don't follow the plan, cause I find it extremely restrictive, but it does give insight that some doctors tend to miss.

HTH,
Oshrat
