Hello,
I am new here and have REALLY appreciated reading everything--this has been so helpful!
I am on day 2 of Met--500 mg, and I'm really struggling through work today. I am having pretty bad stomach cramps, and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for getting through the day.
Try to stay away from fatty or greasy foods, and for some reason, Iceberg lettuce can do a number on us. Immodium Ad can help with some of the discomfort, and some swear by pepto. Hope this helps, and check out the sticky at the top too for ideas on dealing with side effects!

Hello
I am in the same boat as you... been on metformin since saturday, and been having stomach cramps at work.
Immodium helped me and some Pedialyte, have been feeling good today, no cramps so far. Will prob stick to taking my 2x500mg in the evening when I get home.
For lunch I found some wheat wraps (no lettuce, mayo, veggies) to soothe the pain when i take the medicine..
Good luck, and we will get through this!

ps: oh yeah, stay away from chocolate too i found that out the hard way hahaha

I also find that taking a good multivitamin at the same time as met helps a lot. I'm not sure why, or if anyone else has ever suggested that, but it works for me!
I have taken Pepto (tablets, I can't stand the liquid) and having carbs, fruit, toast, or crackers, in the AM is a must for me. I take my Met at night and by mid-morning, if I haven't eaten or eaten well, the cramps will hit me (not fun at work!!)
