Received the hyponidd today. Shipped on the 18th (was suppose to ship 15th) - so 8 days in transit for those thinking of ordering. Took first dose tonight on empty stomach. Will update whether this is keeping my blood sugar in check.
Are those of you who previously posted still getting good results? Just wondering because this thread has kind of been inactive.

hi, i have been reading this whole thread and think it looks like a good alternative to metformin. I took met for around 3 -3.5 years and had really bad problems with it and so stopped it around 8 months and decided to just stay on the pill to help reduce facial hair and periods. Unfortunalty i had a blood clot in my neck which caused me to have a stroke 6 months ago. That means i cant be on the pill forever because estrogen makes your blood thicker, and as metformin does agree with me I have been trying to find alternatives. I have found Agnus castus and now hyponidd. My question is would i be able to take hyponidd? i saw someone say that the hyponidd makes estrogen increase? I would ask my doctor but i dont think he would help me this.
Thanks

Smile04: Have you ever had any thrombophilia testing done? I have Factor II Prothrombin mutation, so I have a clotting disorder. I test my blood sugar regularly at home with a monitor, so as I've been going along with metformin, the last 6 mos. I noticed increasing pain, cramps & burning in my legs. But what I also noticed was that it took alot of work to get a blood sample out of my finger on metformin. I have suspicions that metformin was causing my blood to either thicken or clot faster. Every time I stop metformin the leg pain goes away. This time, being off metformin for a week I noticed I didn't have to squeeze my finger nearly as much for a blood sample. BUT on the hyponidd I noticed that I have to hold a tissue on my finger after a sample because it just keeps flowing out. I also noticed I scratched a small scab, and alot of blood came out. Of course I'm not hemoraging here, but I think it is a great improvement. I had read a little bit about one of the components of hyponidd being blood thinning. I'm not sure which as it was a long article. It's actually suppose to lower estrogen (for PCOSers too much estrogen can be a problem). So, I think you'll be ok.
My blood sugar was really excellent with the hyponidd. I'll post the results tomorrow.

I would definately talk it over with your dr. if you are going to remain on warfarin. I'm guessing it's better to be on something for your PCOS/blood sugar (not sure which it is) and have them readjust your dose as needed after being on the hyponidd. Also you might want to ask if lovenox is a better option, as I believe it doesn't have to be monitored and I think there is a lower risk of osteoporosis on it if you have to stay on blood thinners. But maybe since what I've experienced, aspirin + hyponidd and maybe some fish oil thrown in there might be enough? Again, I'm sure your dr. will know best.
Here's the the study that Pearl originally posted that shows the hormone & metabolic values after hyponidd. If you scroll down past the references you'll see some tables. Wishing you the best!!
My blood sugar results so far on 2 days of hyponidd:
Fasting blood sugar morning after 1 dose w/dinner day before: 106
Blood sugar 1 hour after lunch: 123
Blood sugar 2 hours after lunch: 85!!! I've only had 1 reading that low!
Blood sugar 1 hour after dinner: 136
Blood sugar 2 hours after dinner: 124 (not as great but dinner included dessert)
Fasting blood sugar this morning: 101
Hopefully hyponidd takes a little bit of time to really work. I want to see my fasting sugars go down more (they were about 95 on metformin). But again, I was off weight watchers for about a week AND not on any metformin, and am back on again today with WW. My fasting blood sugar off met (no hyponidd) was higher than above. I'll post my fasting results through the week.
P.S. I think taking it on an empty stomach a full 1/2 hr. before meals is important. I think I waited only 15 min. with the first dose. But all the other doses were a full 1/2 hr. with nothing but water.

Hey, Yeah I have been trying to find something I have take to help me with my PCOS symptoms, excess hair, hair loss, weight gain, not being able to lose weight, and slight acne. Ive not tried getting pregnant so I would rather try getting my body into better shape so that when I to try I will be ready. The metformin and the pill were controlling most of my symptoms, but now I feel that my pcos is in a bad way at mo. I just started spiro in the hope that the excess hair will majorly reduce but I know that it can take a long time to show any effects.
I'm going to start agnus castus soon, if im allowed to, but i dont if i should take hyponidd at the time or should i wait and see if the agnus castus does something first? also, do you have to check blood glucose every week? or just take it and no check it? i never used to check it when i was on metformin. i had my fasting glucose about a month ago it was 4.8, i dont what that means but my doc just said it was normal =/

If you're already ovulating I'd be careful with vitex. It can sometimes make things worse. The hyponidd seems to be helping with the hirtuism for me. It's not as bad, but then I've been taking maca, which tends to make my hirtuism worse temporarily. Have you tried: Green tea, spearmint tea? They can both lower insulin/androgens. The spearmint tea however you only take 5 days in the beginning of your cycle. I'm not sure if vitex is estrogenic. I took saw palmetto one cycle and it helped with the hair, but it was VERY estrogenic for me.
I originally started taking my blood sugar because I was getting hypoglycemic symptoms. Then when I was changing diets, or off metformin, I started taking more often. Ever since I had a couple of high readings (154, 170) I've been keeping a close eye on it. You're in the UK, so you have a different measuring system, but I think 4.8 is good from what Pearl posted about her father's levels.

Are you taking cinammon with hyponidd? It seems just 2 days have really improved things for you! Are things still good with it? I have been watching this post and it's very interesting to see the postive effect it's having on cysters!
Fran - please be careful with combining anything with warfarin. I worked in pharmaceuticals for serveral years and can only stress to be careful and ask your doctor about it before taking anything else. Although...I'm sure you already know this ! It's just friendly words of advice.
I just wanted to add that hyponidd stops blood clots due to the herbs in there. It stops the blood getting sticky. The herbs also lower cholestrol and sugar. HTH

No - cinnamon makes me sweat like a pig!!! I do take vinegar occasionally, but it never did anything for me by itself without metformin.
Pearl - Thanks!! I have to tell you this works for me better than baby aspirin & fish oil (which I can't take either because of stomach issues).
I did notice some joint achiness this morning, which for me is somewhat normal, as anything blood thinning makes me ache as I have "arthritis issues", and the turmeric I knew I'd probably hit a problem with. Since I once took Zyflamend which also has turmeric and came across the same problem. It was only for an hour after getting up.
Blood sugar results for yesterday & this morning:
1 hr. after lunch - 112
2 hr. after lunch - 95
1 hr. after dinner w/froz yogurt - 105
2 hr. " " - 119 (I think it was the diet soda)
Fasting this morning - 95
I have however skipping breakfast, and condensing my meals to lunch/dinner, because I was afraid just 2 doses would not be enough for the day. Starting tomorrow, I'm going to take the hyponidd in the morning & eat 3 meals, and see how that goes.

Just updating. I didn't take my bs yesterday except fasting. The day before my levels were all good. My fingers are getting black & blue, so I think I'm only going to test in the morning for now on!
Fasting yesterday: 99
Fasting today: 93
I am losing more weight on the Hyponidd than metformin too! I had gained 5 lbs. in water weight when I went off metformin, so I lost that + 2 lbs. since Sunday. Other things I noticed is rashes on arms from the Hyponidd, and a little insomnia at nite from feeling a little too energetic. I can live with it though as it's much more tolerable than metformin & I physically feel good on it.

Smile04: You should ask whomever is monitoring/prescribing your warfarin about the hyponidd. Since they are the one who is going to have to adjust your medication should you take the hyponidd. You can also try Inciid.org alternatives forum about the vitex & whether it's estrogenic. She has a private practice & is very knowledgeable about hormones (specializes in infertility). http://www.inciid.org/forums/alternatives/index.html
