Hi All
A friend of mine saw an article in the paper last week re. a study being done on the effect of diet on PCOS so I wrote in and it looks really good
You need to contact PCOS Diet Study [mailto:
pcosdietstudy@nnd.com.au] for further information.
The study they are conducting is a dietary trial, comparing two different diets in the management of insulin resistance in women with PCOS.
The study will involve seeing a dietitian on a regular basis (in Chatswood or Hornsby) and following the diet prescribed to you, to help you in losing weight. You will also have to have your weight measured regularly and have blood tests and scans to check your body fat levels on 3 occasions. These scans are done at Royal Prince Alfred Hosptial.
To participate, you would need to be:
aged between 18 and 40 years
diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance
overweight
not pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to fall pregnant in the next 12 months
not taking the oral contraceptive pill during the study (you would need to have stopped this for at least 3 months to take part)
not taking antidepressants
you also should not have lost a significant amount of weight recently.
Good luck!!
Rosemary
