Well this is a rant..but a rant only a diabetic can appreciate...which is why i am posting it here.i hope thats ok.
Any of you ever check your sugar after eating something that is completely within the carb count you are allowed....as a matter of fact LOWER than what you are allowed, AND you took an extra little bit of insulin to compensate for that fact that it was restaurant food and would probably make your sugar rise more...ONLY to discover that eating less AND taking more insulin didn't help AT ALL and your monitor still says your sugar is at 8.2 mmol/l (140-150 mg/dl) when it should be 6.7 mmol/l (120 mg/dl). It frustrates me so much that i want to cry, i am doing everything i possibly can to keep my blood sugars down and every time i get a high reading its like a failure...it just really BITES!!!
Ok i am done now

first it depends on what your sugar level is before you ate in the first place. Aslo did you take your sugar at 1 or 2 hours after eating? I think for a diabetic under 180 after eating is good but maybe your doc has you trying for lower numbers.

Also some other tips that help me keep mine down.... don't eat more than 500 calories in one sitting. Even if hte carbs are fine, it's still going to jack the blood sugar up if your overall calories are high. Your body has to process the calories, carb or not.
Take in enough plant food so your fiber is as high as possible. Helps you feel full on less, which in turn helps the above.
Take a walk daily. Helps burn the extra off.

I follow a pretty strict diet, as i am pregnant as well. So i know its not the calories, i think it was just one of those freak instances sent to try to drive me crazy lol! My diabetes specialist says that the hormones can have something to do with it too, and not to freak over the random high sugar count. Thanks for responding ladies i really appreciate it!

I don't know about below 10 being good, when you are pregnant and diabetic they want your blood sugar to be 6.7 or below, 2 hours after eating a meal. I think they told me that below 8, 2 hours after eating when you are diabetic and not pregnant is good.
