Default Success with clomid????

Have any Thin Cyster gotten pregnant taking clomid alone (without metformin)? I finally ovulated using 150mg clomid last month. Unfortunately, no BFP. I am taking 150mg clomid again this month, and just wondering what my chances are of becoming pregnant?

I did a round of clomid 50, then clomid 100 with metformin, and then back down to clomid 50 with metformin and have not had any luck so far with just clomid and metformin. We are going to an RE mid October - clomid doesnt seem to work for me...hope it does for you!

Thanks for the response. I'll keep you all updated on how it goes. My next step is an RE as well.

I know 2 thin women with PCOS, as well as myself, who had no reponse to Clomid. I recently came across a study that showed thin women with PCOS having poor responses to Clomid - and much better results with Letrozole - check this out, I thought it was great information: jarrettfertility.com/PCOS%20patient%20handout.pdf

I start Letrozole later this week so we'll see how it goes!

Boston - I am going to try Clomid myself for the first time in October. I don't know if I'm officially a "thin cyster" (5'4" and 135#) however my Dr. stresses that if Clomid is going to work, it usually does so within 3 cycles of just Clomid and bding, after that they will do 3 cycles of Clomid/IUI's then on to injectibles. This is a new Dr. for me and I'm sure each Drs. philosophy is different. Let us know how you do!! I'm nervous myself!!

I don't ovulate on my own at all and Clomid alone didn't work for me either. I only took 50 mg and did not ovulate. Next months my RE put me on Met 1500mg + Clomid 50 and ovulated on CD 17. On the second month of the combo I got pregnant with my daughter who is 10 months old now.
Good luck to everyone!

Thank you MarieMill for the pdf with all that info! It helps to know that thin cysters have achieved pregnancy - especially after not having any response to clomid. I have also heard of being put back on bcp for a month to "reset" your system before going to injectables - has anyone done or heard that?

Default Clomid

Hi All- I am new to the message board. So far the clomid has been working for me. I have done 3 cycles on 100Mg and have ovulated each time. I had my 1st IUI today.....keeping our fingers crossed.

MarieMill, what a great article. Thanks for posting it to the list. I definitely get hot flashes with clomid. According to the article it looks like my chances of getting pregnant with clomid are pretty slim. Maybe I should look into setting up an appointment with an RE now rather than waiting until after this cycle.

I'm actually in Cambridge, and I just set up an appointment with an RE in Lexington through Reproductive Science Center. I meet him for the first time on Friday. Wish me luck!

jlecool - My doctor talked about getting back on bcp but wanted to see my reaction to letrozole first (taking right now). I was on bcp for 12 years before I went off (28 now) and did get 2 periods in the first few months and then nothing. When I asked if that would have been my best shot getting prego she said maybe - however with pcos there is a chance i didn't even ovulate.
bostongirl08 - Most fertility doctors will want to try Clomid at least once to see how you react. I just wish I had the information beforehand that thin cyster don't respond to it as well. When I took Clomid (100mg) my ultra sound showed nothing, nada and I was feeling pretty down. Good to know that there are other treatments out there that might work better and who knows, some thin cysters do respond to Clomid - just none of the 3 I know! Good luck - I'll try to post how the letrozole goes.
