Question Success with Soy??

Just wondering if any thin cysters here have tried Soy and whether it worked or not for ovulation? If you have done and it worked, what dose did you take and on which days of the cycle?

I tend to stay away from phytoestrogens... I've heard they can help some cysters but be not so good for others...

sorry to ask such a dumb question but what exactly is this "soy" that people have been talking about? and what's the story behind it?

soy isoflavones

If you Google it, you can find a ton of info, the good and the bad

ABK - soy isoflavones (or soya isoflavones) is supposed to have a similar effect to clomid. You take it usually for 5 days at the beginning of the cycle (3-7 or 5-9) and then some ladies find they will O so many days after they stop. I'm thinking about trying it to see if it makes me O earlier (last cycle I O'd on CD48 got a BFP and dx with a blighted ovum at 10 weeks which I think could have been caused by the late O - poor egg quality or something...everything else was fine otherwise with the pg). There are lots of threads on the alternative therapies section with info on Soy.

I asked the question here as I was wondering if any thin cysters had tried it with any success with O

I am a thin cyster. I have not done soy because I'm wary of it. However, I have had success moving up O by eating tons and tons of raw broccoli and carrots. (Cruciferous veggies stimulate the body to produce lignans, which then stimulates the production of E2.)

Tiana - thanks for the info...I too don't really like the idea of phytoestrogens but thought I'd try it one cycle just to see what happens...I'm currently on a break of ttc at the moment. The carrot/brocolli sounds very interesting...I do really like brocolli when you say tons, how much would you eat or each veg, say, a day? and do you cook it or eat it raw?

Raw. I can't remember why but they loose some of their goodness for TTC when they're cooked. I also don't like carrots so I stuck with broccoli. I would eat one to two stalks per day (florets). If you've ever been on any of the FF chat boards many of the ladies will talk about eating "baby carrots" to increase CM. E2 is what causes fertile CM.

Yodasmistress, I haven't checked the FF chat boards yet, so can you maybe tell me for how many days you ate those tons of broccoli? Can you do that on CD 3-7 or 5-9 just as with soy isoflavones? I like carrots a lot, broccoli not as much, but I don't think I could take any of them for like more than 7 days, lol! Thanks in advance
