*I was successfully diagnosed! (Hey, you got to start somewhere. )
*I have a terrific doctor who has my best intrests at heart.
*My acne is gone, gone gone!
*I have lost 40 pounds, and am hoping for another twenty.
*My facial hair, while not gone, is at least thinner.
*I eat better than I ever have in my life, and have way more energy.
Yup, I guess I've been fairly successful in treating the disease.
Here's wishing well to my fellow Cysters that they may see success as well! [/quo

In October of 2006 I was blessed with my son Robert and he is now 15 months and I am again pregnant with another son due in April. My symptoms of PCOS don't bother me anymore I go for electrolysis for the extra hair growth but I only go for specaily occasions. The last time I went was Oct for my sons birthday party and I went this week and was done in a few minutes with maybe 10 hairs at the most. I have been pregnant for three years straight but after having Robert and before getting pregnant this time I was able to loose all of the pregnancy weight. I took my GD test this week and I should find out next week if I have it but I am praying and hoping not. I can not compain things have been great for me. This last pregnany was not planned at all but I have to think back to when I cried all the time and thought I would never become a mother and now I will be blessed with two sons, and one angel baby.

How about L-Carnitine?
We are hoping these supplements will lower testosterone and turn this around.
Thanks for your response -- |

My hirsutism has gotten worse in the past 8 months or so, and I know many use saw palmetto, but I tried it once and don't laugh but, it made me horny as hell ?!?!
Has this happened to anyone else ??
I can't believe I just said that......oh well. |

My Mood: Points: 339.32 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 339.32 | I Could Use Your Help Hello guys...im sooo glad to finally find a home
I really need somone to understand what Im going thru with this. Truth be told, I have been dealing with this since I was 16. I got this early. I never really expected it to get this bad. I have the facial hair like you would not believe now, and the weight... I get sick every time I think of it. I havd been from one doc to another one to another one and so on and not a one of them can give me an "im gonna help you get thru this, I understand, lets try this method, there is hope, dont give up, its VERY possible"answer. Its not easy dealing with this at all. I thought I was strong, but everyday, I want to ask God, what did i do so bad to deserve this? Then, I have to think to myself, that maybe Im one of God's "strong" and this is one of those tasks that he is asking me to conquer. So with all that said, I have tried b/c which gave me periods and good skin and really no facial hair for that fact, but for the past 10 years, i have been off and I have gained 150lbs, facial hair, high blood pressure, horrible skin, and a sense of woman-hood all to have the chance to get pregnant and nothing has worked. I have tried everything from seraphene to glucaphage (which by the way is a very hard med to take) and nothing has worked. Can one of you guys give me some advice, some possibility, some hope? PRAYING PAMALA |

So hang in there kiddo. |

However, lowering your testosterone levels does not make the hair go away. I recently read that once a hair follicle is stimulated by testosterone, it's pretty much active for good. Unless you take something to make it stop producing hair. Even after my hormones were considered normal, the hair continued to get worse. I still struggle with the hair issue, but I can't take anything because of my pregnancy.

that is not exactly true from my experience and other friends'..once your androgns are check if you keep plucking the un wanted hair they get finer and finer to finally become like a blong fuzz , just as before it was stimulated..it does NOT disappear it becomes weaker, but it might take time, usually the faster become weak are the facila one.
Androgens did not create new follicles they just make fine almost invisible hair coarser and darker...human have hair follicles all over their body even people without much hair, but then those follicle respond more or less to androgens..so lowering androgens does not make the hair disa^ppear but in most cases it makes it become finer like "normal" women should have it. |

I didn't really have time to see the hair growth lessen. I had only been at my weight for a few months before I found out I was pregnant. Now the hormones are ALL enraged and I'm growing hair like crazy. I did notice, however, that the hair growth actually got progressively worse after my hormones were considered normal.

Does anyone have a little on their chest as well ?
I never had anything on my chest and now I noticed some there as well......if I turn into a male soon, you can call me PAUL. |

my endo always tell me antiandrogens were very effctive in treating hirsutism..and my friends seem to be ahppy with that too...I dunno
maybe besides PCOS you also have a form of idopiathic hirsutism??meaning you are sensitive even to low androgens as far as hair growth is concerned??some girls without PCOS are hairy because it's just genetic... |
