I have been using Vaniqa for about 2 months now and it seems to be working! I don't have to pluck everyday anymore. The only downside is that it costs $55 for a small tube, but I guess since it is working so well, it is worth it!

I also conceived my beautiful baby boy on my first Clomid cycle-the first time I ever ovulated in my life!

Now I just wish I could get the hair on my head to stop falling out!

Default hair loss success - in a way

Well about three years ago I would come to this site literally everday so depressed and desperate. My hair loss was bad. I finally went to hair club for men - they call it hair club for men AND women now. My brother had cancer and after that his hair just didnt grow back so he was self conscious and one day he asked me to go with him to check it out - I regained my life the day that I joined hair club. And get this - I met my current husband before I got it done - so I know he really loves me. I also never thought I would ever get married due to all these pcos problems - but miracles happen. I am now trying to get pregnant - and I know that miracles do happen. If anyone wants to know more about hair club just reply and I will check back in here. It is not perfect in every regard but it is the best solution I have found. They put real human hair on your head and you wash it in the shower just like as if it was yours - I feel like I dont want anyone to know about it for some reason - just because I feel I have the world fooled - but I know I am safe here and I have been helped so much by others that I thought I would share.

Absolutely,
It has been such a blessing for me.To hear the stories and testimonies of the women.I had no idea of PCOS when I was first DX,so thru this site and it's links,I am fully aware of this condition now.I'm very grateful for Kat having this vision and making it possible. It is a avenue that we have to vent, relate, encourage, share, and care with each other. We can all identify with each other on one level or another and I think that's very important!!!!

Question Degrees of severity to PCOS

Is there a wide variety of severity to the illness...I'm not even sure that I have it. I've spoken with my doctor about doing some testing, but since I had my son in 2003, everything has gone crazy on me. I had no problems conceiving and I never had any problems with my period until after having him. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis, my hair starting falling out on top of my head and I got really depressed and really heavy all at the same time. I gained about 40 pounds and I needed to lost about 20 pounds before that. My period has been screwed up since then. I have since lost 40 pounds - I have about twenty to go, but I just don't know why my period is still screwed up. I have completely changed my diet and exercise regimen. Does anyone know about how long it takes to get back to normal?

Thanks!

Maria

My doctor suspected I had PCOS but until recently did not have a clear diagnosis. Now that I know it should be a little easier to deal with and I'm glad that I've found this site.

I too have been battling the excess hair growth and have resorted to laser treatments with some success. The other issue that is even more embarrassing to me is the dark skin patches in private areas and underarms, around waist, etc... I have had some success with Vitamin C and Glutathione. My skin has gotten much lighter in most areas but according to the doctor it will never return to normal.

I would appreciate hearing from others with success or alternative treatments with this problem.

Thanks,
K

Hi! I'm still dealing with the (head) hair-loss and some excess facial hair, but... in the two years I've taken Spiro, all of the excess hair elsewhere on my body stayed gone once it was removed. No strays on my breasts on back, anymore. Yay!

What's the latest word on Vaniqua (Vaniqa?) for the face?

I would LOVE to know more about Hair Club. Currently, I'm wearing a wig when I go out and sometimes wear just a bandana when I'm just hanging out inside.

Oops, sorry for the double-post!

I have had pcos for 15 years. I have always been overweight. 5 months ago I couldn't take the weight anymore, i went on obestat and changed my diet. I watch calories not carbs. I have lost 25 lbs i have 10 more before im at my ideal weight. I am on dianette which has helped with acne and hair growth. I have very light periods which is nice, no more heavy bleading. Life has been great. Until last week I had kidney stones, worst pain in my life. I was wondering if anyone else suffers from this. I was told my uric acid levels were high. which usually only happens in men. But I also exercise a lot which can raise these levels.

Default Past Success Story = on my way back

My success story was about 4 years ago when I lost over 17 pounds. I was 101 pounds and had my hair grown back thicker, although not completely normal, it was thicker than it had been in a long time. My diet was way contradictory to what everyone talks about though - it was low fat. This meant if I ate higher carbs that was okay. They though was that I was working out 5 times a week for an hour and a half a day. I digested under 35 fat grams a day and kept to the workout regimen. I had energy and my night sweats were a minimum - only a couple of times a month and sometimes even not that much! Now I am in a high stress job that I cannot get out of and really shouldn't have to - I also Love my Job and am really good at what I do. Why should PCOS sufferers not be able to keep high stress jobs - I am a type a personality and should be able to love it? I am no longer able to keep the 5 day a week workouts with my hours of work AND give my daughter at least the minimum time she deserves in the evenings. Sometimes, I guess, you can't have it all. My night sweats are so bad, I woke up last night 3 times drenched in sweat! This is now the norm for me. Why can't SOMEONE figure this out??? Anyway, I want to get back to feeling better and am going to start working out and dieting again REAL SOON! I think we should all get together and look for a cure. I think if enough intelligent women get together to figure this thing out - WE CAN do much better than the doc's - no offense but WE are the ones suffering - I've got quite a few theories - it has to do with the blood suger and fatty acid chains in our makeup which can drive our hormones. If anyone is interested in helping to put the pieces together, let's put our brains together - any other theories?
