Default Suddenly sickly

Hi all. I started on 500mg twice a day of Met in Feb, and was upped to 1000mg twice a day the 1st of March after another visit to my endo. On 500mg/2x's I was fine, no side effects at all. Last week, the first week on 1000/2x's I was fine as well but now this week has been terrible! I've had two days of vomiting, nausea and now diarrhea too. I haven't had an appetite AT ALL, which is amazing to me because I think I am a compulsive overeater, and what I have eaten I have thrown up. I had an apple this morning and that has stayed down...so far (keeping my fingers crossed) but I've had to go to the bathroom 3 times today so far! I really don't mind the bathroom trips, its the vomiting and nausea I can't stand! I'm going to try to eat something for lunch and get some Immodium AD at the pharmacy across the street from work. I read that these symptoms could also be lactic acidosis and now I'm paranoid I have it (granted I do suffer from anxiety). Ooohh, my stomach just grumbled....could it be I am hungry???

I'd say your symptoms are probably from your sudden increase in dosage. That's quite a jump, actually! Going from 1000mg/day to 2000mg/day is doubling your dosage! No wonder you're having bad side effects

Talk to your doc about working your way *slowly* up to 2000mg. I would go back down to 1000, then add 1/2 pill so you're taking 1250mg, then up to 3 pills, then 3 1/2 pills, then finally 4 pills. If you do this over the course of a month or so you should be feeling a bit better.

Daisy is right on the $$...I would talk to your physician about a increasing slower. Doubling that quickly is a recipe for serious tummy issues. Feel better soon.

The thing is I just take 2 pills... each 1000mg. Could I break them in half and take them like that? I guess my doctor figured since I handled the 1000mg right off the bat, I would be able to handle this. Or maybe she's not aware of the need for slow dosage increases b/c she never told me to start of slow, I began with 1000 the very first day! I just had a nice bowl of soup that went down nicely, hopefully it'll stay down and not come out through either side! Thanks for your replies! And you Christy, everytime I start feeling like this is never going to work, I come online and find one of your posts and it gives me hope. I realize i'm being impatient in hoping to have my periods regulated and feel better when I've only been on Met for a little over a month...I think impatience runs in my family!

OMGGG You guys!! I am so embarassed!!!! I threw up on the train home!!! I was almost at my stop, too. I was so embarassed I couldn't look up off the floor! I can't believe it, I even stayed at work late trying to make sure I didn't feel any vomit or diarrhea so I could head home safely. I guess I should be glad it came up that way right?!
